Single Player Review... Uninspiring.

User Rating: 8 | Killzone 3 PS3
I played this game via Gamefly in April of 2011. I just finished Crysis 2 and have logged serious time with Call of Duty. KZ3 was pretty run of the mill and boring. They kind of throw you into the story assuming you know what's going on. As someone new to the Killzone series this was weak and uninspiring. You can understand what's going on, but you really don't care because you have no history on the characters (I know I know, it's an FPS, what did I expect).

The graphics are middle of the road. Crysis 2 crushed this and even CoD looks better. Characters look good, but the environments are lack luster. You think of space marine and the helghast and this could have been so much better. The idea and atmosphere should be on par with Halo and CoD... instead it's like a better Red Faction.... just below a top tier. Yet, it's peddled as a system seller and giant FPS killer.

I did play KZ2 at friend's houses and the controls were awful and delayed. KZ3 controls really stepped it up and fixed many issues. If anything, I had to turn down the sensitivity... and the controls are not CoD, but very close and easy to adapt too.

Unlike Crysis 2 and CoD I found no replay in the campaign mode... it's very linear and ho hum. Not that this has to be a bad thing (granted Crysis 2 is like HalfLife and CoD brings it over the top 24/7). I just expected more from this franchise tag. It honestly reminded me of a better version of Singularity or Red Fraction... a nice title and worth playing, but not something to dethrown the big boys.

Voice acting is very good and it's nice to see your character can actually talk, etc... (Crysis 2). The dialogue might be stupid and uneventful... but it's well played none the less.

I've heard really good things about the multiplayer and will add to my review...
