Am I missing something???????

User Rating: 6 | Killzone 3 PS3
Ok, bonus, I got killzone 3 in the ps3 bundle so the game was basically free for me. That being said, I'd be somewhat ticked if I actually forked over $60 for it. For starters, is a HUD to much to ask for? At this day and age of gaming, I shouldn't have to hit the 'up' button to constantly see where I'm supposed to move next. The controls are foreign, and if your a cod fan they have an option to set the controls to what your used to playing with. However, even with that nicely added config option, the game doesn't make up for everything it said it does. I found many of glitches, for example, I'd clear an entire area but the story wouldn't move on till I stood on the 'X' in my hudless display. Enemies would be trapped behind stairs blasting away as I unloaded full clips into nothing penetrable. And god, oh god, is there any one out there who played that horrendous title "Rogue Warrior", because that's exactly what flashed through my mind while doing melee in Killzone 3. So you sneak up to your opponent, press the melee button, adjust and hit the melee button again, adjust again, reposition yourself again, attempt melee again and finally, a kill. Let's not talk about if the guard catches you in mid melee, because then a struggle will ensue and you'll be mashing the melee button till either the guard dies, or you do by the guard or his clip spraying croonies. I liked the times id be sitting in cover and continued to get lit up by what seemed to be heat seeking bullets, is there even such a thing? Before I got the ps3 bundle, I watched many videos and read multiple reviews regarding KZ3. If you were like me watching the video trailers and gameplay online and questioning what is making it such a good game, then I suggest you trust your gaming instincts. The game feels like something is missing throughout the whole thing, and there is nothing that sets this game apart from any other FPS that doesn't live up to the hype it builds. I would put this in the top five of titles that didn't live up to COD, starting with modern warfare of the franchise. I did like some of the guns, especially the bigger ones, and some of the gameplay was interesting at points. You did need to unload mostly full clips to bring down the opposition, which with their armor isn't so unfathomable. Id take down two enemies by flanking them and spraying them full of lead, but reloading would take longer than firing the round in it's entirety. The computer AI was better than what I saw out of similar titles, in fact, it may be the best. They'd flank me, and shoot and cover then find another position and engage again. The amount of action is what brings the game up in my rating system, it is constantly producing waves of enemies who are suicidal, ruthless, or both. However, like I said, the game wouldn't move forward unless I stood in the exact spot it said to, or if there was a enemy still alive who very well could be pinned beneath a staircase. I played the game in campaign mode and beat it in less than 5 hours yesterday, overall campaign rating C-. I played a few games online, and it was almost comical, if you thought it's hard to melee a AI player, good hunting with the humans. Online play has left a lot to be disired, and you wont see hardcore players giving it a second look. Overall, if given the opportunity to rent it do so, or borrow it from a friend, but don't spend money to buy it...
