It's hard to review Killer7 by conventional standards when it is a very unconventional game. It is a very surreal experience and a very controversial game. What's interesting about the game is that it won't be remembered because of its content, but its mechanics. This is the factor that will prove whether or not you will enjoy this game. Killer7 breaks pretty much every rule you can think of when making a violent action-adventure: instead of being given free movement, you hold a button that moves you along a set path, instead of a more realistic approach on the graphics, it uses cel shading, and so on. It is a very bizarre experience that is very difficult to summarize briefly, but the main premise is that you've been hired by the government to combat a group of zombie-like suicide bombers called the Heaven Smile. As a syndicate of assaisins, you exterminate targets and use a variety of personas, each with their own distinct abilities. Odds are, you'll find a favorite among them, but it doesn't heavily influence the gameplay.
So why would anyone bother with this game? Well, it's unique, and it has a very unusual story, in which you are never quite sure what is going on. The characters throughout speak in riddles in very intimidating whispering voices, to which you must find solutions to a puzzle in order to proceed.
In the end, if you are an experienced player and wish to try something very different that defies description, than by all means, purchase Killer7. It's very story driven without feeling forced, and it's a game that you'll get a kick out of showing it off to your friends on just how weird it is.
