Killer Instinct 2 for the Nintendo 64

User Rating: 9 | Killer Instinct Gold N64
Killer Instinct Gold for the Nintendo 64 is a reimported of Killer Instinct 2 from the arcade, made by Rareware. Killer Instinct 2/Gold brings back all the character from Killer Instinct except for Cinder, Riptor and Eyedol and replaces them with new characters like Tusk; a Barbarian warrior, Maya; an Amazon female, Kim Wu; a Martial artist and Gargos; A demon lord gargoyle. The story of Killer Instinct 2/Gold is about surviving and returning back to home for some and other fight to gain back their dignity. The gameplay is very similar to Killer Instinct but tuned down and added new moves like the auto-triple for Jago, when he did the fierce windkick and you press the medium kick to follow up, he'll kick the opponent's legs then to the head and back to the legs, but in Killer Instinct 2/Gold; he'll just kick the opponent's legs then the head, in Killer Instinct; when you do a follow up move like Jago's laser blade it'll consider a link move, in Killer Instinct 2/Gold; it'll consider as a combo finisher (the end of a combo), but it does have super linkers (while comboing, to add more hits when performed the given input). The graphic for Killer Instinct Gold is clean and clear, although they're 3d renders, the character and background image still look the extremely good, only some parts like the stage you fight on is 3d. The sound for Killer Instinct 2/Gold is even better, they sounded unique in every aspect of the game and so does the character voice. Overall Killer Instinct Gold for the Nintendo 64, made not look like the arcade version is still one of the best decent 2d fighting game of it's time and it may not play like the first Killer Instinct game for the Super Nintendo, it still holds it's place as the combo crazy 2d fighting ever.

Gameplay: 8- Just like Killer Instinct for the Super Nintendo, but kind of harder to combo and have supers (not like Street Fighter series), computer AI is more challenging.

Graphics: 10- Character render are clean and nice, so does the background for the Nintendo 64.

Sound: 10- Soundtrack is well made and the character voice sound superb.

Value: 8- Killer Instinct Gold is one of the best fighting game back in its day, combo may have been tune down a little, but combo linkers give more excitement to the gameplay.
