A 'one-trick-pony' of a game, but it's a fun one.

kill.switch is a really fun game. It's a really intense shooter that most people would like. It's also very short and can be hard at times. And if I had to describe the game with one phrase, it would be "one-trick-pony". kill.switch is a third person shooter, plain and simple. What makes it different than the rest of the shooters out there is it's 'cover' system. You see, in most shooters you just run down the hall or whatever, and kill everything you see. In this game, if you try that, you will have your butt handed to you quite quickly. You have to use the cover around you to survive. A box in the middle of the hallway might be the only thing saving your life. Literally every corner or object in the game can be used for cover. And the game has instituted a nice 'blind shooting' technique. Basically what this means is that if you are hiding behind a box, and you have several enemies shooting at you from in front, you can stick your gun out and just shoot at them randomly. Now, you as the player, can see where you are trying to aim, but your character never puts a limb out in the open. You can also put your back up against the wall and shoot around corners, peak around, etc. Kind of like Metal Gear Solid, but way better. It's a fun little gimmick, and must be used to survive. There isn't much of a story here. You play the role of Bishop. Apparently there was an implant put in your head that lets other people control you. Your wife was murdered and now you are a slave to a man called Archer. He is using you to do his dirty work and help him steal a nuke. It's not a bad story, it's just not very deep. The main focus here is the gunplay. I found this game to be very enjoyable. It can be frustrating at times, but I didn't mind it too much. I could see how some people wouldn't like the difficulty, but I don't like games that are too easy. The graphics are ok. You won't be running to all of your friends telling them about the visuals in kill.switch, but you won't be disappointed either. The sound is also pretty standard fare. The music is some techno-mix crap. The voice acting is pretty decent. The gun sounds are rather weak, but it didn't take away from the expierience too much. Most people would say kill.switch is a great rental. It's very fun, but very short. I liked enough to buy it and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to play a different take on the usual third-person shooter.
