Hm I seemed to have underestimated this game. I thought it was just some game that had a lot of hype for something so little. I am proved wrong...this game looks amazing!! It's a must have for the 3DS! Hopefully they have it on the eShop so I can get it but whatever happens I want it!

Pit makes his flight to the 3DS in this video review for Kid Icarus: Uprising.
As someone who doesn't reflexively hate non-traditional controls, I am having a blast with this title and I went into it with reservations. If some of you would try a new control scheme for more than five minutes and not be a stubborn old gamer you might have some fun.
@kbaily I couldn't agree more. Gamers need to experiment with new control mechanisms.
Nintendo gets it and moves the ideas of control forward, and it is this vision that more than makes up for their slower hardware... I prefer their systems because I'm always after new experiences.
There is just something about Japanese made games that makes me love them even more. I guess it is a deep seated feeling of the good old Final Fantasy games for the PS1. Looks really fun, just wish I could see the 3D on my pc screen!
That ability system. It closely resembles that of the Megaman NT games on the GBA. I think I want this game now.
This turned out MUCH MUCH MUCH better than I expected. It's probably the best 3DS game so far.
This game seems slightly underrated. Great graphics, amazing soundtrack and audio, very fun gameplay with variety, and so much content that almost competes with Smash Bros. It has everything a game should and then some. The controls take longer than most games to accustom to but it's not broken.
An example of the classics staying classy, (though I have to ask honestly: aside from their possible nostalgia-factor, were the original 2 "Kid Icarus" games on the NES & GameBoy, really considered as "classics" in terms of their gameplay & content quality?)
@phonemug @flyingman123 ...the metacritic score is 83...really stop being butt hurt nintendo fanboys....
What is it with Gamespot's reluctance to give 3DS games AAA scores. Mario, MarioKart, and Kid Icarus are sensational games. I know GS was hoping the Vita would win but lol... yeah give up on that dream.
8.0? I was expecting this game to get a bit higher, but than again gamespot does hate nintendo...so just saying.
i dont think it would make much sense to be able to use a 2nd cirlcepad - even with - aiming wouldn't be much better - game is to fast for that - but somehow it would be nice just to have this option non matter if you use it or not, you can aim with the yxab buttens instead but it feels bad.
Look @ those damn jaggies, stupid game is stupid...meh thumb me down, sheeples/sheepies
@ih4tefanboys Do you realize the 3DS screen is like 1/3 of the gamespot player? It looks much better in the 3DS screen.
no @iiAdaptx you cannot use the second analog for aiming,I bought the game thinking you could and was very disappointed at first but after about 10 minutes of playtime I was enjoying the game enough to forgive this blunder. I guess for left handed players the Circle Pad Pro will make this game much easier though, still it would be nice to have that classic left stick move, right stick aim feel so many gamers are accustomed to. I can say though it only took me about 15 minutes to forget about it and really start enjoying the game and some of it's epic levels and enemies. If you want a great game for your 3DS this is the second best in my opinion(RE Revelations was better) and I wouldn't hesitate buying it at all even with no second analog aiming.
If i get the Circle Pad Pro can i aim with the right stick and move with the left ? Or no ?
This or Star Fox 64 3D? I really wanted to try out Starfox 64 cause everyone said it was so spectacular. It's only 19 pounds on Amazon now compared to 29 for KIU.
This is classic Nintendo at its best. Charming, fun and addictive. Every time we play this game, we cant help but smile. Good title. Well played.
Ive played this game and id give it a 9..Id give it a 9.5 or a 10 if they set up the circle pad pro options better. But this game doesnt control the same way you would expect it to. Nintendo set it up so that you use the stylus to move the camera,L to shoot and the analog stick to move. It takes getting used to but its far from being sucky controls. Its actually similar to when you play a FPS on a PC and use a mouse and keyboard as opposed to a gamepad. So when you get used to the set up you actually have razor sharp controls of everything....dont know what anyones talking about who complains about this games controls(they probably suck at games).
I bought it i really recommend this game, the controls after and hour of play are complete natural
im on level 11 (ive also played the multiplayer, and AR cards) this game is not all that "great" i feel stuck getting as much as i can out of it(42$ worth i hope) like a chore this game is a 7 i mean why would you down thumb me for telling you the truth? nintendo isnt paying me off and im not saying the game is "horrible" or "bad" and its not "so-so" its just a little below "great" an a little above "good" somewhere around 7.5 thats not even that far from the score they give here seroiusly control your blind fanboyism
@ryan_sr97c_1 Wouldnt that destroy the whole purpose? While were at it why not just let Nintendo, sony and Microsoft just throw away their hardworked games to their competitors consoles!
@WolfGrey No disrespect but you obviously are missing 3 points that your ignoring. 1.The 3DS upgraded the friend code system from the horrible adding codes on every game on Wii, to just adding a persons code once to play everything on the 3DS, which is pretty much equivalent to the 360/PS3 of requesting someone. 2. Nintendo's gotten better on online Multiplayer and adds them to games that could benefit and not to ruin single player games, Mario Kart 7's communities are a huge improvement and Uprisings multiplayer balances awesomly. As for the online service, Eshop is MUCH better than Wii and DSi and its gonna get better on Wii U. nintendo stated that they dont want to be the best cause they dont want to flood it with things that arnt nessesary for a gaming handheld/console. 3. Your totally right, Uprising is just a rehash and the new IPs pushmo and Rolling western and the rebirth of Sakura Samurai that came out were SOOO NOT new IP's, and just rehashes./sarcasm/ Dont say the usual crap, its boring.
something this awesome should be shared for the PSMove and Kinect. And while nintendo is converting this for the 2 current gen consoles... smash mouth's version of "why cant we be friends" should play in the background...(its an awesome song if you havnt heard it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dx0Shn5Hvpc&ob=av2e)
@ Wolf Grey Are we honestly still complaining about friend codes? What do you have to do on other systems? If you don't have direct access to to another person's profile within a match or something, you need to type their name in to find them. How is typing a name different than typing a code? It isn't. It's still a set of characters and about the same size. I also think it's funny that you're coming to the Kid Icarus review to bring up reuse of IPs. Granted Kid Icarus isn't a new IP, but there hasn't been a game in the series in over twenty years and this entry plays absolutely nothing like the previous games. Not the best example of Nintendo milking a series.
@WolfGrey I concede on the point of the online,Nintendo has been behind with that, and hopefully they get the ball rolling with the Wii U as they say they will. But jut because this is the best looking 3DS game to date does not make it the best looking 3DS game of all time. It's frequently the case that as time goes on and developers get better at making games for hardware that later in the system's life is when you see it's full potential. Plus game footage rarely if ever looks as good on the internet as on the console, especially for handhelds, because you're inflating the size of the pixels from the small handheld screen to the big PC screen,so the resolution looks fuzzy. At any rate, the game is fun,the system is fun, there are lots of other fun games on the system, and fun,not graphics,is what makes a game worth playing.
@shadow655 Maybe that reviewer couldn't play without the stand, but this guy didn't seem to have a problem without it. And if the point was to prove that a deep big game could be put on 3DS,I think Nintendo made the right choice here. This game is very big and deep, with lots of gameplay, loads of customizable options, and pretty graphics. And who knows, with Pit back in the spotlight, perhaps we will see a Wii U Kid Icarus title.
