GameSpot AU staff members get their hands on a 3DS and go through some of the hardware features and changes.
@kaem79 I'm pretty sure the ps3 is 4 years old! even so it is a tad bit expensive
@hannify spare me your bs. a portable gaming machine used as a complement to consoles for gamers are not supposed to cost that much. hell, it's even more expensive than the ps3...
the 3ds is to expensive to buy. I think people that pay 250$ for a portable gaming machine is not so bright. it's not worth it. period!
@GnarlKill86 i think your the fan boys ,im just loooking at the reality im not assumting for what you are saying. and i think you read the news that before ngp has arrive the people already bought 3ds right now and twice as order as wii in history. is that already one of advancement of the nintendo? nintendo got a huge start and already dominate the people. why dont you gather information first before you talk to me sony fan boy looking at the page of 3ds. always remember the prompt always outpassed the diligent.
@mumui10 The NGP hasn't even been released and you're already making assumptions on what it is going to be like. How about you wait till it comes out and what kind of games it will have before you bad mouth it. Fan boys
I believe what these guys are saying because people with ( fidel castro's beard type ) always tell the truth.
The combination of low viewing angle naked-eye 3D display and the sensor is the failure works as the handheld game platform.
@longjohndevine And i suggest you learn how to word your comments so they dont look like fanboyism."NONE OF WHICH WILL HAVE AS GOOD AS SOFTWARE AS THE DS" Sorry but that was plain ignorant. Not only was your information wrong but you then proclaimed it as fact.Do your research.Im no fanboy, i simply go with what i enjoy at the time. However i still research every system, game, or handheld in detail so i know what im getting into or what i may grab later.Maybe you should try that? @dawnofhero I have owned the PSP3000 myself and never had a problem with its interface or browser.Got some "nice" backgrounds on it because of that lol. As for videos it was a toughie but at least it had the feature.I didnt have too many problems with it, just abit of red tape on the browser itself for getting videos. I think both handhelds will kick some major butt this time around.I mean it was about time the DS actually stepped up its technology. It was lagging behind in that front and once again is doing so.But however the DS has always had a great long list of games to keep people happy. It thrives.Unlike the Wii's games( i have a Wii) which dont thrive at all save a few. It will be Charm VS Power. Im looking forward to the competition because when they compete new things always come.
@ dawnofhero I hope so as well. I'm diehard Playstation (no shame) and have played amazing games on the PSP. However, I must say that the DS just seems to be a more appropriate handheld system. The games just suit the commuting lifestyle whereas so many PSP games were ports of games that required extensive/complicated game time. So I honestly don't know if I'll get a 3DS or a NGP, they both have their strengths @_@;
@WolfGrey The DS sold more units than the PSP, but it just didn't have the multi-media experience. I have owned a DS Lite, and currently own a PSP 3000. And I gotta tell you, from experience and reading reviews, the PSP has a terrible web browser, and getting videos on it is near impossible, unless you download a movie from PSN. Otherwise, the PSP has some cool stuff. But Nintendo has always had the upper hand when it came to making memories and like you said, 'charm.' I plan on getting both NGP and 3DS. :P @TXMostWanted The only other system where Nintendo had a second analog stick was the GameCube. (okay, and the classic Wii remote) Maybe later on this decade they'll upgrade the 3DS with a second one?
Especially because this system specifically revolves around the 3D aspect the lack of dual analog sticks is a game breaker for me.
The only problem I see is the lack of a second analog stick. I don't want DS repeating PSP's mistake :"(
@pokemonblackftw dude you can get it on amazon for £197.00 thats £32 cheaper than the rrp
@shatgan2222 Dude, y dont u get Mario Kart, Ocarina of Time or Pet Zombies in 3D?
I already preordered mine in black, but not sure I should change color lol... though, i'm no sure what game to get, all of them suck, Normally i would get street fighter but I already own it on the ps3 x_x, I want a game that shows the 3d and graphical capabilities!
i really see nothing worthwhile about this new ds that merits a purchase... the only thing that i'm even remotely interested in is the AR. other than that putting a '3' in front of 'ds' isn't gonna cut it for me. and i swear to jeebus if i see one of you fanboys that knock the ngp for having console games on the go playing oot i'm gonna slap the thing out of your hands lol
JUST LOOK AT THE TOP OF THE SCREEN COZ IN LATER DATE PS3 IS SECOND TO THE XBOX360 NOW THE Wii OUTPASSED THE PS3 EVEN IF ITS SYSTEM IS POWERFULL SO I THINK IT WILL ALSO HAPPEN IN NGP 3DS FIGHT. 3DS WILL UPSHINE.
I think i'll prioritize this over the NGP. I mean, the NGP has some amazing specs but, as usual with sony, lacks innovation. The tilt controls and touch screen/back will be nothing more than a novelty gimmick in the face of the dual analog sticks they've also put on it. Even all of the titles rumoured to be coming to it are just home-console games like uncharted, games i don't particularly want to play on the move. Not to mention the fearsome price it will undoubtedly have, and the crippling financial losses poor sony are going to have to deal with because of the mechanical monstrocity it is.
I don't like the guy in the baseball caps beard. Don't ask why, I just think it's creepy.
i think 3ds will be more good than ngp when it comes to games and price also, because 3ds is more interactive than ngp , because there is so many boring games in psp and i think it may come also in fate of ngp.
i want to get the 3ds when it comes out soooo bad, but i have to save my money in order to get it
Sony may have power and it may have a great backing but if the beginning lineup and support isnt enough for frontal sales then it wont do that well. However it has great many bigtime Developers working on games for it and im sure many more to come.So i think it has a decent chance at a fairly good share of the market. The 3DS however has great charm as always and a wonderful beginning lineup(very strong). So of course it will sell and do well but not for the 3D.It will do well for its gaming, not the 3D.Most people i know or have seen(even on here) intend to turn off the 3D as soon as they get it with the 3D slider. Anyway i wish good luck to both.So stop being fanboys and appreciate every system for that they are.
The More I see about the 3DS it kinda makes me want one. i might end up having both a 3DS and a NGP haha
@longjohndevine Talk about fanboyism. If you actually look at their full specs side by side the NGP actually beats the 3DS on every single thing.Every single Spec. The only the 3DS has going for it is its 3D and i could care less about that. The PSP(the first one) has better software than the 3DS and the DSi.A far friendlier interface, easier to use wifi, already had a wireless slider before them, could browse the internet with ease, store pictures and videos, demos, and more. The DSi managed to get a couple of these things going for it but thats all.Like it or not the PSP has always been superior to the DS.But as i mentioned that isnt what makes it great. The DS has a great library and even greater following, it has a very large build up overtime in community. As for what Sony is doing atm, they are going for different markets that Nintendo has no front on, these markets are against the iphone and the ipad.Honestly after hearing information about the Sony Tablet(fulll name not given yet) they might do very well actually in that regard, while not so well on the phone area. Either way the NGP has superior specs, programming, many more features,3G, and many other things that outdo the 3DS in every way.Mush like when the PSP outdid the DS in every way possible. But in case you havent noticed that isnt what is important when it comes to a war between Sony and Nintendo.
@WolfGrey. wise up. Sony's handheld strategy at the moment is completly crazy, they are trying to swamp the market with so many different devices that fall under the Playstation label. Sony's NGP may be the most powerful of the handhelds. But I really dont think Sony will have one distinct product with their new strategy that will "defeat" the DS, they will have a large market share, simply because of the range they are offering. NONE OF WHICH WILL HAVE AS GOOD A SOFTWARE AS THE DS. Fact.
Just adding this to the thread, although I don't plan on buying a 3DS I must say the line-up looks pretty decent already game-wise. I've just noticed the 'Games you may like' at the side and it's looking pretty strong. Every success to Nintendo I say. I'll prob be getting an NGP just because I want uncharted on the move :p But yeah, best of luck to both.
@Sepewrath That and 3 is just hugely pathetic. So its much easier for more people to downplay the system that way.Ill go for the 5.Though i thought it would have at least 7 hours. My ds lite and my psp last 8-9 hours a piece.Even with more hardware you would of think they would of thought of a way to maintain energy on this handheld.
@Sgt_Crow Please dont spread ignorance. The PSP was Sony's first attempt at the handheld market(first true attempt).Nintendo had already had a very large hold on the market with its previous systems. So fairly obvious why it took the top then. The handheld community preferred the more kid friendly games of the DS while the psp was meant for all ages.Sorry but the DS or nintendo in general will always be thought of as the kids gaming. No matter how much mature or less kid friendly games are introduced to their systems. As for the NGP(PSP2), it does have a touch screen, but it has also a touch pad.The touch pad allows for quick control that the 3DS isnt capable of with its touch screen.Quite a few functions originally performed by a touch screen can be performed much faster on this pad.The NGP has ps3 beginning graphics(which out perform on the 3DS and Wii) and its audience is not just kids but the whole group. However i can look forward to many more mature titles or less kid friendly ones at the very least on the NGP.This is simply fact. My point is:This time around it isnt some one sided battle in the market. This is Sony's true contender for the handheld market.I think both will do well with their audiences. But dont bash either. Nintendo has its charm and Sony its power. This is just how it is. However that freakin alka seltzer analog pad is tacky as hell.
This looks an awesome little thing. I'm gonna buy this, then sell it when the NGP comes out and buy an NGP
That analog stick looks like a giant freakin vitamin tablet or Alka-Seltzer.That is horribly unattractive.
oh cool I actually didn't know about the wireless slider there til now. cool stuff
This device is doing more for 3d than anything before it. Honestly I could care less about it, but with Nintendo I might give it a try. This is probably the only distribution channel where 3d might sell.
@warhawk-geeby yeah exactly, doing anything too long isn't good for you, but my eyes hurt around 10-15 mins into a 3D movie, so i'm not very found of it. I also agree with your later comment that 3D will be a passing phase at least in that it won't be the major selling point in products just a bonus (like the 3DS) i don't think we are going to see 2d games disappear for awhile yet, just like motion controls we're still going to have buttons and controllers for a while as people aren't accustomed to them yet that controllers can be completely forgotten(maybe the next generation will prefer this to a controller or keyboard and mose) but who knows for sure?
3DS is a milestone in the world of portables. Can't wait to open my cosmo black 3DS on the 27th :)
