Now, my starting comments on the game were "Well, here we go, text reading to the boring" but as soon as i started on the game it brought on something so amazing, that is stunned me. Thats right, the game isnt some cheesy love story about love at first sight and how a woman would stay with a man for all of his life, through the thickest and thin like the game starts you out thinking, its a school for the disabled (Fun fact: Katawa shoujo translates to 'Disability girls'), now your more than likely going "Oh god, this is going to be horrible", But thats for you to decide, now let me get started on the true reveiw.
The games begining appeal is the art style, while simple, it leaves alot to be imagined and really makes you feel for the characters, though while the character are crippled, for lack of a better term, they are quite....Cute? yes, thats it, cute. They shine alot of light on the disabled community, and let you know to look past the exterior shell and get straight to the core of people and allow yourself to get to know them and understand them better, thats what its all about.
The suprise factor, actualy Animated Custcenes, Yes! This game has animated cutscenes! Wich to be honest i knew NOTHING about besides the begining cutscene of the game, wich was cool, but once you hit act two, your jaw is gonna drop, your hearts gonna skip, and your minds going to expload, the cutscenes are so well done and amazingly beautiful they just tear your heart up and some even bring you to tears.
The music, is simply amazing, they really capture the scene of the momment and slow down time itself for you, everything becomes a blur when the music plays and it makes you feel like life is ending for you sometimes, wich could be possible if you were in this school (Horrible joke), Simply put, the music is beyond beleif.
The story, There are several different stories in wich to play from, ranging from a girl who has no vision, to one who's burns haunt her very existence, or a girl who's life came crashing down from a accident wich made her lose her legs but the motivation to continue running inspires all, including me, the stories have a good, and bad ending wich your choices effect.
The make you feel bad factor, when you exit, theres one of my favorite characters looking at you with puppy dog eyes, son of a...
Now, a breif history on the game, the game was originally thought up on a site called Four...Chan(why cant we say this?) wich is used as a 'forum' of sorts for pictures, the game was in five years of development wich is not suprising for a no funding game, but theyre dedication is something to admire and i do beileve, the group made something that will last through the ages.

Ending comments - Katawa shoujo is a master-peice, while it wont hold up to todays fps high graphics 3-dimensional standards, if you are a fan of visual novels, its a must get and you will not be let down, you will go to tears and laughter in a instance, and that i beileve is something that gaming in general has lost, the ability to make you feel emotions.
