More of the same, but a good fun time nontheless.

User Rating: 8.8 | Karaoke Revolution Party PS2
True, "Karaoke Revolution Party" does not represent a huge step forward in gaming. In fact, following the innovating original "Karaoke Revolution", Konami and Harmonix have pretty much sat on their hands and rolled out the sequels. But that doesn't mean that subsequent games have been any less enjoyable.

Karaoke Revolution Party is just as fun to play as previous entries in the series. The nifty little additions, such as the dance mat compatibility and the EyeToy support, are enough to keep long time KR fans from getting bored. Like previous KR games, the gameplay in this version is well executed and very accessible.

The song list is huge, and varied both in terms of genre and difficulty. As the GameSpot review mentioned, everyone is likely to find some songs they'll enjoy singing, but most people won't want to sing every song.

The graphics in a game like this are mostly irrelevant to the game play, as the singer will be watching the lyrics and pitch bar throughout the song. However, KRP features an enormous selection of avatars and outfits, so anyone not singing will have something fun to watch while you perform.

KRP is meant to be played in a group, although it can be played by a sing player as well. The judging level can be adjusted so that everyone has an equal shot at "winning", but for the most part the competition is beside the point. As such, KRP is a much less goal oriented game than most other games on the market. While getting a perfect score on every song might give you bragging rights among other KR fans, this is a game that is best played just for the plain fun of it.

And Isn't that what a good game should be all about?
