If it ain't broke, don't fix it still offers the same content we've seen in previous games

User Rating: 7 | Just Dance 2021 NS

Just a select few titles from FIFA to Star Wars to Assassin's Creed always get a yearly release; Just Dance is another game that gets released every year on whatever platform. It is one of those games that appeals to both casual gamers and families with an easy gameplay mechanic that anyone join in at any time. Using your body to move and dance to your favourite tracks by either using the joy-con or using the Just Dance controller app on your phone you have at least two options again for playing the Switch version.

You would expect something new to be added in Just Dance 2021, where the 2020 version added All Stars which felt like it had a mini story based on the Panda who is sort of the mascot for the franchise due to the number of times it's appeared in a Just Dance game. No, there is no All Stars mode or even a main story if you wanted to see something new to the series; you do have Kids Mode, which has a selection of songs for the younger audience to play without the rating system and simple ratings making not feel bad or competitive in trying to be the best dancer. Quick Play is added where you can just jump into any track from the franchise, feels like you've just played a quick demo and a taste on what the franchise has to offer and a quick way to recommending the game to anyone.

Like past games you've got a total of 40 songs from Twice, Billie Eilish, Onuka, The Sunlight Shakers, Doja Cat and many more. And yes, there is always a Disney track added to the mix being Toy Story- You've Got a Friend in Me; pending on your taste of music there is a decent mix of 80's, 90's and early 00's music in the mix where you are likely to recognise some of these tracks. As always, if you purchase the game, it does come with a free month's worth of Just Dance Unlimited which has over 550 tracks from the past games into one online subscription which the prices are cheap from choosing a day, weekly, monthly or yearly at a good price. This is one of those features that will never go away at any time if you already own the last game you are not really missing much since you can just keep using the Just Dance Unlimited if you wanted to play more tracks with friends and family.

Sweat Mode is another feature that makes a return and another way to burn off some calories and keeping motivated since this year in general since lockdown has happened around the world. You do need something to keep busy and slowly not go insane, World Dance Floor is back if you want the online multiplayer experience and dance off to other players if you have the Nintendo Online Membership on you. You've still got the same challenges and tasks each time you start up Just Dance complete a challenge you'll earn some Mojo points which can be used at the Gift Machine you'll get avatars, titles, banners and alias which you can customise your own profile.

Will admit that I did find this version a little easier then the previous versions where most songs you can easily gain either a 4 or 5 star rating for each track. The animation for the choreography for each of the tracks is acute to the track itself and following the dance moves as you see the screen with strong and bright colours for each of the tracks. Nothing else much to say about Just Dance 2021 its more or less the same content we've seen in the past Just Dance games, the series itself is still fun to play. I wouldn't say it's worth paying full price unless you see it on special offer or by simply trading in the past game and put it towards the next game saving you a bit of money. Overall you'll still get an experience if you are new or a fan of the series Just Dance 2021 offers the same content as always, just wish that Ubisoft would try and throw something new but like the old saying if it ain't broke don't fix it.
