For dinosaur enthusiasts and Jurassic Park fans, this game is a dream come true.

I remember when I was a kid and went to see Jurassic Park in theatres; it was a life changing moment for me. I was a dinosaurs fan even before seeing Jurassic Park, but the movie opened up a whole new world within the field of paleontology and accurate depiction (And no I am not talking about the oversized "velociraptors" or the spitting "dilophosaurus"). To this day I remain an avid Dinosaur enthusiast, having read hundreds of books dedicated to the topic; it is safe to say that the Jurassic Park franchise has been a favorite of mine.

In 2003 this game came out, but I have to admit I did not have a good enough PC to play it. So I bought it in the summer of 2004 and played it on the lowest setting on my Targa laptop, but as time progressed and I had gotten better hardware the game really showed its true visual potential. Till this day there is not one Dinosaurs based game that can equal the depth and replay ability of JPOG. The PC version is the true gem here as it easily can be modded, and thus there exist GREAT "expansions" such as the Genesis Expansion Project V2, and the brilliant Film Cannon Mod from Jurassic Park Legacy that fill in the gaps of the vanilla release and make it much more enjoyable.

Being sandbox game, JPOG creates the nostalgic JP atmosphere and gives the player the opportunity to create his own JP. There is a great selection of dinosaurs, and enough game modes (Operation Genesis, Missions, Site B) to keep you coming back for more. It seems almost as if everything was taken into account when JPOG was conceived. The weather, the foliage, the ambient and of course the dinosaurs have all remained intact. There are even cameo appearances from the characters from the movies. All this contributes to a superb package.

Everything is under your control, you can view the park from the perspective of your visitors, and the dinosaurs behave realistically and are joy to watch, they interact brilliantly with their environment. The visuals have aged gracefully and even today the game looks very appealing.

I only hope that a sequel will emerge.
