Though it has some age to it, Jungle Strike can still be a blast to play.

Jungle Strike was my first foray into the Strike series. It appealed to me because you flew around in a little helicopter shooting at little tanks and men. I have always had a destructive nature and being able to blow up almost anything on the screen was excellent. When I finally got to play Jungle Strike, I was not disappointed and soon wanted to get the prequel Desert Strike and couldn’t wait for a sequel.

I love the graphics in the strike games. They are small, but quite detailed. It’s like flying around in a playground with little toys, except these toys shoot at you and explode when destroyed. The sounds portray the weapons well and the explosions sound great. There really isn’t much music and the only sound you have is the helicopters blades spinning to accompany you through the missions. Jungle Strike can be a difficult game if you aren’t familiar with the control scheme. The ¾ view can be difficult to maneuver around, but once you get the hang of it, it isn’t much of an issue. Some of the missions can be frustrating at times, especially the night mission where you can’t see enemy except for a few flashes of light now and then.

Jungle Strike was a great game back in the day and still can be fun for people who remember the series. The series has some years to it and the last game to come out was two gaming generations ago. If you like to fly around and shoot at little versions of military equipment then Jungle Strike will be right up your alley.
