An electric and vibrant soundtrack, colorful visuals, and style saves Jet Set Radio's outdated control scheme.

I never played Jet 'Grind' Radio when it came out on the Dreamcast in 2000, because I simply didn't own a Dreamcast. However, I've always been interested in Jet 'Grind' Radio because of it's great looking cel-shaded graphics and unique gameplay that I've never seen before.

Now, we have the HD rerelease of Jet SET Radio on the Xbox 360, PS3, PC, etc.

Before we go into the praise, I will get it out of the way. Yes, Jet Set Radio has a very difficult and outdated controls, and almost counter-intuitive gameplay.

But, that's not what JSR is all about. It is, and has always been, about it's style, which is instantly memorable and unique to this game and it's sequel, Jet Set Radio Future.

The soundtrack in JSR is where it's at. Memorable songs such as, Let My Mom Sleep, Rock It On, That's Enough, Humming The Baseline, and a monstrous loud of other songs are catchy, vibrant, electrifying, memorable, and every other synonym for 'fantastic'

The graphics of JSR has hold up very nicely. I don't understand why so few companies go for the cel-shaded look, because it makes the game look great 10 years down the road. For example, Sly 2 on the PS3 HD rerelease looked amazing due to it's cel shading.

The gameplay in JSR, however, is really flawed. Skating by itself is decent, but trying to run away from tear gas, the crazy head cop trying to murder you with his gun, and anything that has to do with grinding, isn't very natural and kinda annoying at times.

The difficulty is a bit wonky as well. Some levels you can beat without a sweat, while some actually made me get a little steamed, but it's definitely no deal breaker.

All in all, Jet Set Radio still holds up.. Mostly. CHECK IT OUT.
