A solid game worthy of the Jak and Daxter name.

User Rating: 8.9 | Jak X: Combat Racing PS2
At first, I was a little skeptical of this game. But I decided to go out on a guess that it was good. And yes, it is very good. The story isn't amazing, its jus there to give you some reason as to why you are doing all this racing. Now on to the bits that count.

GAMEPLAY

Great. I know its not the most original idea, but hell, it works. It's like Burnout 3 and Twisted Metal combined, with a Jak flavor of course. There is the standard Circuit Race, Deathmatch, and Death Race. But there is some really great ones like Artifact Race, Capture, Assasin, Sport Hunt, and Turbo Dash. The weapons are a good but some seem really useless to me. All the four ecos are used in a cool way. The difficulty is strange. I had a lot of trouble beating the first race, but once I beat it, everything else was a breeze.

GRAPHICS

Good. The vehicles and characters are done nicely and the effects are very well done. The levels are great and it runs at a solid framerate. What else is there to say?

SOUND

The music is fitting to the intense and fast racing in Jak X. It's a mixture of metal, rock , and techno. The sound effects are good and don't glitch and the voice acting is fantastic. Keira sounds a little weird but all else is great.

BUY OR RENT?

Definite buy if you are a racing and Jak and Daxter fan like me, but if you are a little worried about wasting your money, rent and try it out. It has lots of replay value because of the multiplayer and online features.
