Burnout meets Twisted Metal in this explosive game!

User Rating: 7 | Jak X: Combat Racing PS2
A Jak racing game was already expected, after you had seen all those race competitions in Jak 2 and Jak 3. And finally, the greatly waited Jak Racing was released. And... it is good after all!

Jak X was supposed to be all that the Twisted Metal fans dreamed: A racing game where you can blow up your rivals using all type of explosive weapons. At first, you can think "AWESOME!", but Jak X isn't that wonder...

Although it be a different type of game of the other Jaks, Jak X keeps the standard quality of the franchise stories, with Daxter taking care of the humor and Keira flirting with Jak (something that is not seen since Jak 2). Now, the plot is more simple and lead the characters to Combat Racing Competitions.

In the begining, you will have a very good time with Jak X. There are a lot of cool stuff to unlock, lots of customization options and lots of cool cars! The soundtrack rocks and follow the frenetic style of the game. But when you come across with more hard events, you will note the only BIG problem with this game. THE GAMEPLAY!

If you are already familiar with games like Burnout and Need for Speed, you certainly know how to drift in this game. And that's the problem! The drift controls are horrible, moreover the veichles appear to weight 10 lbs. Will be common a simple attempt of drift or even a turn finish in a spectacular crash on the wall, in yourself going in wrong way or anything like this.
Won't be hard to see yourself in a amazing speed and don't succeding in reaching any of your rivals (is really frustrating you use a boost for 15 consecutive seconds and don'y pass anybody).

Like Crash Tag Team Racing, the game producer was more focused in the weapons and explosions than the race properly said. The tracks have nothing especial and none have a especial detail in comparison with the others. Don't expect for that creative shortcuts like the Crash Team Racing (the truly decent racing game by Naughty Dog) ones.

Well, if you really want this game simply because you liked the other Jak games, like me, go on and buy it; i cannot hinder you of this. You will have much fun with the excellent multiplayer mode (if you have pacient friends to play with you) and will like to unlock many of those unlockables. But don't say that i didn't warned you about the gameplay, right?
