Not exactly a good game but still fun when it is.

Story: Story here is that you have to find eco (life source in this world) to help save the world. Jak (main hero) Daxter (sidekick) and their friend keira get shot down by pirates and over the course of the game you'll find an old castaway and you begin to learn that the pirates aren't the real bad guys and blah blah we've heard this story before. Here's the thing what I like about the Jak 2 and Jak 3 is that they had good stories and memorable characters. That's not here in this game. First off can someone tell me why Jak shaved? I mean I know his hair has to get shorter with each game but come on. Shaving his head wouldn't have been that bad. He could've looked like John Travolta in "From Paris with Love" or Stone Cold Steve Austin. Actually yeah that wouldv'e been bad. Anyway Jak in this is kind of toned down a bit. He's no longer that somewhat quiet occasionally smiles badass that he was in the last 3 games. With this he's treated like a cartoon hero. By that I mean he'll be saying lines like "the bigger they are the harder they fall".

Also giving him a fur coat and a gun staff makes him look more like a future pimp rather than a badass. Thankfully you aquire new armor over the course of the game. Now on to Daxter. He's always been the comic relief in the last 3 games but in this he's both annoying and a moron. He's simply not funny. There's a point in which your in an old abandoned dark eco factory and even after Jak says not to touch anything Daxter sees something that he thinks is a candy machine even though it's not. This leads to tthe second dark daxter sequence. I guess the only tie Dax was ever funny was when he was fighting with pecker.

Keira is pretty much a complete **** in this one. She's so bossy and one second she's being brave and a second later she's being the damsel in distress. Even though she has guns she never uses them. I realy began to wonder what stopped these pirates from throwing her @$$ overboard.

Graphics: Okay I guess. While Daxter looks better eveyone else looks like a bland 2D cartoon figure.

Sound: The voice acting is okay but the sound effects are what stand out. You have a bunch of gun, jet, and other sounds that work really well.

Gameplay: I didn't really feel like the camera got in the way that much. What did get in the way though was the pacing. By this I mean that you'll find two flying missons in here that just seem to go on way to long. The first time you have to destroy three walls that have turrets on them. Once you do this one the walls will shoot a missle and you have to use the Daxter minigame to stop it. Here you have to do three different button mashing sequeces. It's fun the first few times but you won't really need to use it that much. After the first missle I had to do same thing again and hop on another missle. By this time it felt a little repetitive. By the third time Daxter lost his grip and then I got pissed. You also have to do something like this for the final boss battle except instead it's four times. The flight mechanics work good though. They're very tight and responsive so yeah they're fun. On ground the contorls may take some time to get used to but eventually you'll get the hang of it. You get all these new eco powers and they do make the combat more enjoyable. You only have 1 new gun though and it's not a useful as a peacemaker. You also have the Dark Daxter sequences. These aren't bad but they definately aren't good. Thankfully there's only three of them. You can pick up enemies go into a tornado and shoot dark eco balls.

Overall: I like all the Jak and Daxter games. Even the Jak X game was fun. This falls under the category of being not as bad as other PSP games like say "cough " ugh Assassins Creed COUGH UGH. But yeah hardcore Jak fans will appreciate this but if you want a straight forward platformer then your probably going to want to skip this.
