One of the better action games for NES.

User Rating: 9.5 | Jackal NES
Graphics: This game is like most NES action shooting games; an overhead. But everything is quite clear and you're able to tell what is what. Konami has always been good with their artwork in their span of NES games, and this is by far one of the best.

Sound/Music: Very well done. The sounds range from explosions and machinegun fire, to even helicopters, picking up soldiers and even squishing enemy soldiers! As for the music, it is rather nice to listen to, while a couple of the levels' tunes are quite catchy.

Difficulty: About medium. The first couple of levels are pretty easy, but you'll probably die at least twice. If not, through all my years of playing this, I envy you. The last few levels on the other hand are quite a challenge.

Gameplay: There's quite a bit to say about this game! First of all, if you enjoy the common overhead action games that are on this system, this one probably will be the best you play. But rather than walking around, and, if you're lucky, finding a tank to drive around that won't last long, this may be a surprise to you. You drive a Jeep the whole game. Also, remember having a limited supply of ammo and grenades in the other games? Well, no need to worry in this one, you have an unlimited supply. As you play along, you need to blow up some of the small house-like buildings and take in the POWs. If you get a flashing one, he'll upgrade your grenade to a missile, and beyond that makes the explosion more powerful. There's a boss in the end of each level that range from a wave of small armored tanks and a huge battleship. Always on your toes with this one.

Controls: VERY easy to learn in this game. D-pad moves you around, Start pauses, B fires your machine gun and A uses grenades/missiles. Simple.

Overall: There was a huge selection back in the NES era of those overhead action games like the Ikari series, Metal Gear, Commando, and so on. This is one of the best I've ever played and each time I play it is a new challenge. It never gets easier, no matter how many times you play it through. Konami at their best in action games right here in this cartridge.
