A great start...

Now having almost completed it, I have to say that I thought the Story a little bit thin on the ground considering the rich source material of the Warhammer universe. I thought they could have done a better job with it, like they did with the recent movie 'Ultra Marines' with Terence Stamp and John Hurt.
I thought the level design was a bit uninspired and by the numbers, and aswell as some of the environments, which looked a bit too basic, drab and rather like a 'last gen' game too be honest. However other environemts have been designed with some style and they have created some nice futuristic war torn type Warhammer 40,000 vistas, so not all bad. The character models were very good.
There could have been more situtations that felt even more like a battlefield with dust and smoke etc.. Some of the battlefields felt more mechanical than alive, and were laid out in a predictable fashion.
However, the combat..... is sublime, no its 'delicious' !! Relic have really nailed it, and I thoroughly enjoyed the game on the strength of the combat and the game being based in the Warhammer universe.
Facing down and killing hordes of Orcs is a real thrill, you really feel like a God of War amongst the bloody carnage -- and I love the way all the dead bodies stay, a remainder of the slaughter, thats looks great. Far too many games have the bodies disappear for techincal reasons, so its good to see them stick around for a change.
I would say that the campaign falters a bit at the end I thought, simply because the forces of Chaos arn't nearly as much fun to dispatch as the Green hordes, period! Infact I found the last parts of the game a bit flat in comparison to what came before.
I had a blast playing this game, and found it to be highly addictive. Its has some important foundations laid. The Dev Team got the core mechanics working really well. Nevertheless, theres still plenty of room for improvement - so's heres hoping for a sequel.
NB: I played the game on HARD and found that to be 'just right'... Played on NORMAL I suspect the game would be a wee bit easy.
