iRacing is a membership-based racing simulator available now for the PC. Learn more in this interview.
i'm not really into racing sims but the technology they used to make this is very interesting
guimengo1, there are demo-s - one of them is radical's: http://www.radicalsportscars.com/racing/virtual-racing They just don't respond immediately - I had to wait a week until they sent me activation code on mu e-mail.
No other racing sim even comes close to the feel of this.
Money is not a issue. Mechanics and gameplay do all the talking for games. If your going to set yourself as a simulator then you will only get those that are into simulation game play. How boring to have to go through bland tracks. just read what people feel about it now. The racing genre is inundated with racing games and having to pay 15 a month like an mmo wont work. of course you will get those that play in the beginning but people will move on.
11Bravo, fair point on the games they made (which I mentioned and also talked about in my one blog post). GPL is still played online, but why? Because modders made it beautiful and gave it more seasons, more life. The driving model is not perfect as there's absurd little grip on slow speed and many inaccuracies, like Spa. Still, we overlooked and enjoyed it. NR 2003 to me became attractive ONLY because of the GTP mod, but Papy came in and sued the entire planet. They had those 2 amazing games where you paid one price and extended its life. Now they come with that excuse to support their business model, I am never subscribing to iRacing thanks to the Papyrus mentality and their business model.
@Upat3am OMG - You have no idea whatsoever the racing game pedigree of this sim developer. Do you have any idea what the Papyrus developers produced? Ever heard of Grand Prix Legends? Ever raced the Nascar Racing series? Oh, and by the way, Upat3am - since you so broke that you can't pay the money to get onto iRacing, you got no business commenting on the "mechanics and race style". Geez...
This Game graphic not good And I donot play online game I donot buy it
Haha a recent pc, the visuals are rubbish. I think they need to look at the compation, there are alot racers that are better looking and probably play better, with a one off payment and free online. Heh I was going to try it out, but it turns out the one month free trial doesn't exist.
Oh yeah, also there are lots of people who love to behave like they're far superior to others because they subscribe to iRacing, you'll find plenty of arrogant people online. Also 2 other things I forgot to mention before: 1- There is no demo, you must pay to even try the game 2- Any issue you have online you must file an appeal which in 99.99999% of the cases results in absolutely nothing at all, even if someone T-boned you on purpose.
This game has the best virtual racing mechanic of all games with incredibly accurate tracks. That's on the pro side. On the con side, it offers cars that aren't attractive to me. The only car I find good there is the F- Mazda, the vast majority of the rest is far unappealing. There are a handful of nice tracks, Lime Rock, Road America and Laguna Seca. It just isn't worth the money at all. The cheapest price is $96 a year but the minute your subscription runs out, you CANNOT play the game, even offline. Online you can only race cars which you've earned the license to, so you may buy the top notch car right away but only race it online maybe after 6 months. Also, remember iRacing is made up of the people who sued everyone on the planet for making mods and tracks that greatly increased their Nascar Racing 2003 Season game.
Lets not hope that 11bravo is a spokesman for this game. The game looks looks like someone who is new at making race games. With so many outstanding racing games out there you would have to stand out as a game to have people pay 15 a month to participate. It doesn't matter if you have celebrity race drivers play online when the mechanics and the race style are not that good. If you would like to see what games may be better then this look at most of codemasters racing games. But I will give a better description after I try the game. But since Im not serious about anything (especially video games) Dont expect me to go nice on a game that wants you to pay $15 a month to run in a circle.
For any gamer serious about good, clean, online racing - this is well worth it. I was involved in the later stage, invitation only pre-public beta for iRacing and it was solid back then. Dale Earnhardt, Jr. was actively participating in the series and I had the occasion to race with him during a 2:00 a.m. Legends race. Casual racers need not apply for iRacing, so don't complain about the monthly cost, just don't sign up. I wouldn't want to see you on the track anyway. Stick with your Need For Speed on Xbox.
It looks interesting, but not something that I would buy...err...pay a monthly subscription.
This game is too expensive. You have to pay for everything separate, cars, tracks, licenses and on top that a monthly payment. It's a joke.
I an not a true racing person, however, this might be my first racing game.
looks pretty nice
Interesting.
