Inuyasha: Fuedal Combat is the PS2 version of the anime beat em' up genre that debuted on the PS1.

User Rating: 6.8 | Inuyasha: Ougi Ranbu PS2
I am a huge Inuyasha fan and watch the show almost every Saturday night on Adult Swim. Ban Dai has made some good games, but then again they also made some bad games (Digimon World 4 for example). Now it seems as though Ban Dai is not even trying to think outside the box and relying more on fan base consumers and make beat em' up games of popular anime shows (like the upcoming Zatch Bell, Digimon World Rumble, etc.). Inuyasha: Feudal Combat is the PS2 version beat em' up of this proud anime series. Here is my review:

Gameplay 6/10:
Now here you have an interesting combo to either pick one character, or pick a character and pick a partner. The story mode kind of falls in place, but the situations and the way they are told will be kind of acted out differently. As far as the fighting goes, it may seem a bit too complex on the surface, but deep down it is just the same simple press and mash button beat em up that will be easy to learn and use with no problem at all. You will breeze through the story mode with ease no matter whom you chose, and some characters have the tendency to be the more powerful and cheap attackers in the game. Also the game can get repeatitive since it is just a simple beat em' up. It is great to have the family or friends come and play it, but playing it alone will get you bored eventually.

Graphics 7/10:
Not really Dragon Ball or Dragon Quest styled graphics, but the graphics are good in their own general way. The characters looks almost like they should be, but because Inuyasha was made into a game it wouldn't look all to animeish enough (That would be Final Fantasy or Kingdom Hearts depending). The levels are crisp and detailed so you would pretty much pick a favorite and fight there most of the time. However, no matter how graphically detailed the levels are, you have a limited wandering area and thus feel squeezed with limited oxegyn to breathe.

Sound 8/10:
The way the bankground sound effects are heard when you fight really bring ambience into the fighting, the music makes the game feel like the anime show almost to every detail, and the voice actors from the show come bring life into the characters they act. The badside to all of this is that some of the sound effects do not seem real (i.e. sword clash and arrow impacts, etc.) Also some of the sound effects can get repetitive (like the pain cries being emitted from you opponent), and some of the character's taunts really makes them seem more annoying than the attacks they call out.

Value 6.8/10:
Overall out of this whole experience I will gladly conclude this review. If you love Inuyasha and want to collect every thing worth the name Inuyasha: You can buy this when its price drops to a reasonable 30 dollars or rent it as many times as you wish. For everyone else: This is a good family/friend game that you can just rent at your nearest video rental store, if you want to buy it: that is clearly up to you and no one is the boss of you. However please take this review into consideration.
