Just goes to show, button-mashing can be fun.

International Track & Field came out during the summer of the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, and it quite obviously tried to cash in on "Olympic Fever". While not an official title of the games, it does manage to create a great environment for competitive multi player.

Button-mashing is the name of the game here, and it's only through dexterous fingers that you stand any chance of taking your athlete to the top. Most events are completed simply by alternately pressing the Square and Circle buttons, quite simply, the faster you press them, the faster you go.

The events themselves range from the standard track and field fare such as the 100m dash, 110m hurdles, javelin and high jump to even 100m freestyle swimming (which oddly enough, is the only event in which you can play as a female, albeit not by choice).

Overall, the real quality of this game comes in the form of multi player. Having 2 to 3 buddies around, all of which are tapping madly on the poor controller, straining for every last bit of energy to push their athlete on to victory...now that's a great time. But be forewarned, it can get very competitive very quickly!

Sure the game may be a bit lackluster and shallow, but hey, if you're having fun what does it really matter?
