Another electrifying PlayStation 3 exclusive
inFAMOUS is a action open-world type game that is made exclusively for the PlayStation 3. Sucker Punch impresses people with this brand new idea from them. Yes, there have been many superhero games, but most of them fail to deliver. Unlike the others, inFAMOUS succeeds, and is one of the most impressive superhero games as of this date.
The story of inFAMOUS is neither simple nor complex. I feel that the story of this game is just right. Cole is delivering a package until the package explodes and he gets strange electrical powers. Now it's up to you to find out what's in the package and so on. Although I am not comparing this game to Prototype, the story still might be similar in some ways, but it is more and well-developed.
Cole's abilities and powers makes this game different and unique. I have never played any sort of open world action games with the main character possessing awesome powers. The Grand Theft Auto franchise features a normal character that kills people the old-fashioned way. inFAMOUS puts you in the hands of Cole, and you attack with your electrical abilities. The gameplay is great, and it feels just right to shoot enemies with your electric. The other abilities is a welcoming, but important addition to the game. Progressing through the game unlocks more, and more of your powers and you can become a very powerful person.
One unique thing of inFAMOUS is the karma system. With the karma system, you can choose to become the brave, the mighty, and the awesome Cole the Hero, or you can choose to become the horrifying, evil-minded Cole. When you get to a certain part, Cole will think about the possible outcomes if you do a certain thing. You can do something evil or something good. It's all up to you!
I can't say that the graphics are incredible, but I have to say that it's still pretty good. The electrical animations look great, and looking at the quarantined-city is worth looking at. There are some pop-ups, but it isn't that annoying. Of course, the graphics are not as great as Killzone 2, but at least it doesn't look too terrible. Overall, I'm still pretty happy with the graphics.
In the end, I have to say that Sucker Punch delivered one of the best and most electrifying PlayStation 3 exclusives. Many people have been comparing this game to Prototype, but you don't want to. They are both different in many ways. inFAMOUS is an awesome game that features the awesome karma system, power-ups, story, and possibly the graphics. This game is worth a rent if you're not into this genre, but if you're a fan of this... you'll have to pick it up. inFAMOUS is one of the best PlayStation 3 exclusives this year hands-down. Looking forward to Uncharted 2. Fantastic job Sucker Punch!
