inFAMOUS, is an open world action game, released in 2009, by the creators of Sly Cooper (Sucker Punch).

In inFAMOUS, you play as Cole McGrath, an ordinary bike delivery guy, who one day, delivers a bomb to a city called, Empire City, that then explodes, killing thousands (including his girlfriend's sister). He falls into a coma, and wakes up with electric powers! The story is pretty awesome, but I can't tell you much, without spoiling it.

inFAMOUS plays alot like a 3rd person shooter(minus the bullets. You use the L1, and R1, buttons to aim and shoot. You later unlock powers, like the shock grenade, which is exactly what it sounds like. A power, called the Megawatt hammer, which acts like an electric rocket launcher, and an electric sniper, that lets you zoom in, on your foes. Like a third-person shooter, you need to "reload", after you spent all your electricity (which is indicated on a bar above). When that happens, and/or your health is low, you need to quickly find an electric source, so you can quickly press the R2 button, and refill your healh, and "ammo". Quickly finding a traffic light, recharging, and then throwing a grenade at your foes, while being shot at by a handful of enemies, is a great feeling, and quickly gets the adrenaline pumping into your blood. The controls are pretty good, but it might take you a while to adjust ot the aiming, but not long enough to spoil the game.

You might have electric powers, but that doesn't give you to big of an advantage over your foes. inFAMOUS's combat, is more strategic, than you'de think. You need to take cover constantly, and when attacking, you often can't afford to miss, you're shots must be quick and hard, because 2 dudes, with shotguns coud easily overpower the "Electric Man".

One of the things, that makes inFAMOUS unique, is the "GOOD", and ''EVIL" karma idea. Sometimes yo get to decide if you want to save that guy, or ignore him, because you have better things to do. If you save him, you get "GOOD" karma, if you don't, you get "EVIL" karma. You can also do side missions, that are either "GOOD", "EVIL", or "NEUTRAL" (no karma points). Seems like a good idea right? it is, but the difference between the two is so little, that itruins the whole, "Branching Storylines" idea. When you're good, you get blue electricity, and when you're EVIL, you get red. Each karma has it's own special power, but only one. You're choices, might affect the cutscene you get, but both are just different shades of each other, with the same final outcome every time. This is dissapointing, but the gameplay makes up for it.

inFAMOUS is open world. The city you live in, is divided into 3 parts, each one is ruled by a different "gang", much like other open-world games, like Saints Row, and GTA. But the three parts, look the same- grey, and empty.
Not only does the environment look sad, but the side missions, are repetitive, and after you finished the story, you won't feel like staying longer, than a few hours.
The visuals, are pretty bad, but not bad enough to ruin the experience AT ALL. There's plenty of pop-ins, and glitches, but they're not too noticeable.

inFAMOUS, is a great game, that doesn't look good, but plays magnifecently.
A must for anyone with a PS3
