Indigo Prophecy is a very fine multi-genre story-oriented game that works for all the reasons you wouldn't have expected

Easy

10 Hours or Less
The Bottom Line:
"Innovative"
New York City, rightly described in the starting of the game, as the capital of the universe is exactly the place where this high action and drama thriller is set. You play as Lucas Kane, an ordinary man that has something extraordinary happen to him. Indigo Prophecy is a game that has such an intense and in-depth storyline in it that it will suck you right into it and with every decision you make, you'll be heading closer to one of the various high-drama endings in the game.

Plot and Characters:
As I've already said, Indigo Prophecy is one of the most story-oriented games to have come in some time. You'll only find yourself going deeper into the story with every move you make. The game has several endings and outcomes which was one of the most anticipated things about it towards its launch. I only watched in amazement as a diner murder turned out to have the most unexpected inputs by a civilization that each and every one of you know for its myths and predictions. The plot is definitely the biggest strength of the game and it is well written despite some places where the details are missing and there is a lack of explanation leading to a situation.
Indigo Prophecy has 4 playable characters and for all know, you will thoroughly enjoy playing through each of them. All the characters in the game are very believable and it feels like each and every one of them have a soul given to them by the developers. There are absolutely no two ways about it, the plot and characters in Indigo Prophecy are as good and as believable as in any game to have come out recently.
Plot and Characters: 9.3/10
Sound and Voices:
Indigo Prophecy can be well described as what I would call a multi-genre game. It has contents of action, adventure, horror and even a little bit of sandbox. The diversity of the game is perfectly suited by the sound effects given to the game. The soundtrack is amazing with the Santa Monica titles being the clear winners among the other songs. The voice acting is brilliant (yes indeed).
Concluding it, the sound effects and the voice acting is as good (if not better) as you'll get in any of the games to have come around recently.
Sound and Voices: 9.6/10
Gameplay:
Over the past decades, we have seen games focus more and more on gameplay than on other things like plot and sound effects. It has therefore been very essential for a game to have good gameplay mechanics to sell well. Talking about gameplay, Indigo Prophecy does bring a new concept to gameplay, but fails to manipulate it enough to save its pride in this section. Indigo Prophecy lets you as a player do everything from putting your clothes in the washing machine to making a fine glass of gin but what it fails to do is to deliver the love for action that you have associated with some games. Indigo Prophecy packs mind-challenging puzzles and planned out action sequences that you only need to press the right buttons to act out. There is also a limit to what you can do sometimes that results in the game only being a partial inclusion in the sandbox genre.
Indigo Prophecy brings something new to this category, but not enough for it to manipulate on it and be called as a game having good gameplay mechanics. Gameplay: 7.8/10
Concept:
As clear already, Indigo Prophecy has an amazing if not excellent concept to it. You have various endings to the game and you can almost feel like you're part of the storyline. The concept of the game is brilliant and it has indeed been enacted well enough. There is absolutely no doubt that the concept of the game is fresh out of the box and should be taken inspiration from if we want to see further improvements to the concept. Concept: 9.7/10

Graphics:
Just like gameplay, over the past decade we've only seen more and more concentration on graphics of a game. For a game released in 2005, Indigo Prophecy might not have excellent graphics, but it does have decent graphical details. The layout of the city is brilliant and many little details are present which could have been missing. The graphics at their best can be called as being decent if not good.
Graphics: 8.3/10
Conclusion:
There have always been games that have brought something very new to the gaming industry. Indigo Prophecy is a very fine multi-genre story-oriented game that works for all the reasons you wouldn't have expected it to. It has neither stunning graphics nor amazing gameplay, but you'll only find yourself engulfed in the ever-changing plot of Indigo Prophecy and loving it like anything. It might not be a classic, but it's not something you'll be very proud to have missed either.
