In those days 3D models in pc games still looked awful. Back than I preferred sprites. And it wasn´t until Half Life came along a year later when my preference changed. But with Incubation it´s full 3D environment served a tactical purpose. As you could turn the camera view in a 360 degree angle. It was the first time I had seen it implemented in a strategy game. And also the first time I´d seen a game make use of it´s in-game engine for cut scenes. So it made quite an impression on me. It had an excellent music score, which added to the dark atmosphere. And although the game play was a bit repetitive, it was very addictive, so it didn´t bother me that much.
