Being a fan of Sierra's city-builders, I was excited to hear about the new installment in the series, even though I have heard about the innovations that were introduced.
Long story short, the game lacks the flavor, the substance, and it's simply too complicated in places where it shouldn't be. It all starts with the tutorial, which is hardly explaining anything, and for a game that turns out to be quite difficult to play, a good tutorial is an absolute must. The tutorial also uses a lot of CAPS, telling you to NEVER do this or NEVER do that, and it's a very aggravating detail, taking the fun away.
The graphics is pretty, it's not heavy on the resources, which is good. The people, however, are made in the same way, which makes their figures act in a very repetitive manner. It look very fake and it doesn't make sense in a game in which you can view everybody's file and track each person. I didn't like that.
The biggest flaw is that the game is simply not magnetic. You have to applaud the makers for trying to break away from almost identical gameplay witnessed in Caesar/Pharaoh/Zeus/Emperor, but I don't think that is the direction the game should have went.
