Im not much for space shooters, but hot damn. The only SS Ive owned I bought from a pawnshop for the Genesis and I still have it. The gameplay is basically shoot anything that moves. And I love it. Things blow up and you blow up and we all blow up, its just am explosion fest. But its done so beautifully that you cant help but pay attention. It gets a little frustrating after youve died too many times and your score is reset, once you get used to it you can fly through the entire thing and destroy EVERYTHING! MUAHAHAHA!!! Sorry. Also you eventually get freeplay and have no limit on where your life amount ends. The storyline could have been more in depth and something more could have been added. But other than that Im not complaining. The graphics for this thing... just thinking about it makes me want to play it again. The transition from black to white is easy and the shoting effects for them are perfect. The backgrounds dont interfere with what your doing unless you let them. And the bosses arent huge enough to take up the entire screen, except for one of them. The sound is repetitive and will annoy you after a while, making you grind your teeth. But turn on your own music and start shooting things, thats all you have to do to cure that. The reason I give the learning curve 2 to 4 hours is that the game is repititive and after youve played it long enough, you know where to fly and where not to, where to shoot and where to switch polarities. All this just so you can unlock an image gallery with some pretty good drawings. Those of you who played this in arcades and on the Dreamcast will know this game right off the bat. Those of you who havent like me, will instantly become fans of it.
