the reviewer at gamespot got it all wrong

User Rating: 8 | Hybrid Heaven N64
the nintendo 64 is widely known for it's lack of any rpg titles at all, and most of those few who launched haven't really deemed the demands gamers wished for. That is to say, the majority. Hybrid comes to meet that demand, and it's results are satisfactory.

Theplayers initially assume the role of Mr. Diaz, a synthetic human hybrid created by aliens. In the game's introduction, he turns on his masters when he kills a synthetic human intended to replace the President's bodyguard, Johnny Slater. Diaz finds himself in a massive underground installation created by the aliens under Manhattan. As the game progresses, it is revealed that the player is not the one he assumes to be and the plot tickens.

The game is delivered by konami, who is highly recognised for great titles such as: metal gear solid, viewtiful joe, killer instinct etc.
truth to be told, the fact that this game was developed by konami, increases my praise for this game. There are elements in this game which clearly are rehashed in the metal gear series, both plot and atmospheric.

The presentation of this game is excellent regarding it's age, and expecting a cinematic form of storytelling is definitely not a mistake for the gamers. As the story starts out you are quite certain what might happen, as honestly the plot doesn't reach the oscars for originality. what really makes the plot stand out is it's way of being excecuted, as well as the story elements are carried out in a cared and convincing faschion. The in-game script is well-written aside from a few translation errors, which unfortunately grates the game few times on the way through.

The gameplay is addictive and grants you both exploration and a really well developed battlesystem. you will not find any description of it here, as you will have to read about it somewhere else=)

Now something worth boasting about in this game is the bloddy soundtrack.. It is awesome! the themes contribute in manifesting a dark and intruiging atmosphere as well as the variety of themes are many, and you will rarely find anything overrused, except mainly the battletheme.

Don't listen to this horrible reviewer and if you ever get the opportunity to grab this game, do it...don't hesitate!
