Game has some good strong points, but the horrible fighting system and inefficient game saving system destroy it.

User Rating: 4.8 | Hybrid Heaven N64
Hybrid Heaven is unique in that it combines a little bit of several types of gameplay. There is action/adventure. There's a little bit of RPG, you can build your character (though somewhat limited). And there are arena type fights. That's where the complaining comes in. The fight scenes are incredibly cumbersome and just all around not fun. It's not just a button mashing fight, it would be much better if it was. For every strike, you have to first engage the enemy, then decide what kind of strike (punch, kick, etc...), then decide what type of type...(left hook, right hook, etc...), all from a dropdown type list. If it sounds boring and frustrating it's because it is. Not to mention, some enemies can seem to regain their health at will, making it nearly impossible to beat them unless the game decides otherwise. And when you die, you sometimes have to go far, far back, because that's where the last save point was. There really was no reason this couldn't have been a save-at-will type game, it would have drastically improved it.

There are strong points. The storyline is pretty good, the graphics and sound are decent for N64, and the mixing of game genres was an interesting concept that could have been very successful if it wasn't for the huge flaws mentioned.
