User Rating: 4 | Hot Wheels: Burnin' Rubber GBA
Released: November 21, 2001
Developers: THQ, Altron
Game Genre: Racing

Opening Thoughts:
Hot Wheels Burnin’ Rubber is THQ’s first Hot Wheels title on the Gameboy Advance.

Gameplay (5/10)
Gameplay is decent, but not up to snuff. Games like Krazy Kart Racers and Mario Kart Super Circuit blow it out of the water. The racing in general is too slow-paced and choppy. It is hard to hit the brakes and then accelerate to drift around a corner. Too many hits on the wall get annoying, plus there’s water and other traps that take you out altogether.

One cool part of the gameplay is unlocking cars and tuning them up with money that you can win. There are 20 cars and 17 tracks total.

Game modes are Grand Prix, Free Race and Time Trial.

Graphics (4/10)
Graphics compared to some other GBA releases are pretty sad in this title. Very choppy gameplay results from a lot of pixilation and glitchy driving. Some cars ahead of you can’t even be seen, they just appear out of nowhere.
Improvements (2/10)
Previous Game: Hot Wheels Stunt Track Driver (Gameboy Color)

It’s sad when a pre-gen game beats out a next-gen, even if they are handheld games.

Durability (5/10)
Average durability makes for a good game to play when bored. The unlockable features are a good reason to play.
