The premiere 3D Space RTS couldn't be any more gorgeous and well-designed. True tactics as you fight it out.

User Rating: 9.5 | Homeworld 2 MAC
Homeworld 2 is a 3D Space RTS that deserves praise for both its immersive gameplay and well-written, if a little short, campaign. The only game which really lets you command forces in a 3D environment, this game may prove difficult for those people who cannot think inside of 3D space. The controls of this game come naturally, and the player is taught inside of the first few missions of the campaign. Players will command huge fleets of everything from small fighter-class ships to massive battlecruisers in large fights that will fill up a screen in laser and gun fire. Inventive uses of ships to draw the enemy into traps or massive attacks will prolong your fleets life.

It's a good thing that they ignored space being silent, because HW2 features not only fantastic sound effects, but a heartpounding and exotic soundtrack. More over, HW2 has an astounding number of mods, everything from Star Wars (its beautiful and allows you to pit the imperials vs the rebels in ways never thought possible) to Battlestar: Galactica (it's like watching the series, except you control the ships now).

I can only hope that someone, be it a group of people or another company, steps in and takes this concept, further polishing it and expanding its multiplayer aspect.

Cons:
Multiplayer action on a Mac is a downside, as it uses the GameRanger match-up feature, and few people play on it nowadays. Also, Macs cannot play against PCs. Even when Macs played against each other on my home network, the latency issues cause disconnects, and generally we couldn't get games of more than 3 players to work.
