Geronimo, Apache, Conan and Korea. Yeah, it all makes sense now. Don't like the plot brainwash clishe.
I really like how games are moving away from cut scenes. Cut scenes just kill the flow of a game in my opinion. Bravo THQ. I'll be tracking this.
Oh and one more thing, if people who are such MW fans think this looks similar surely you'd be excited, not upset. :\ Just a thought. Hopefully it'll be a little longer than the short MW2 campaign, which unfortunatly wasnt as good as the 1st modern warfare. Maybe activision are selling out as they know it'll be popular either way, cant be that much work going into them these days with a new COD every year, hopefully Im wrong though
Cheers Cipher_8. ActionManly-contradicting yourself a little. You say you know COD isnt the only FPS out there but you also imply that everyones copying it. You may be younger so probably don't realise but if anything COD has copied some of the other series that have been around longer and are still around. You mention Battlefield. Bad company is a new subtitle for the battlefield games that have been doing the same thing for many years now. Lets face it, saying so-and-so is copying this, trying to cash in etc is like saying every racing game that comes out is copying another racing game. They have the same premise but are all different games. Theres only so much you can do differently so many are going to be RELATIVELY similar simply because they are in the same genre-ie you go around shooting people. You could say all these games lend themselves to space invaders. Games evolve using the style of play that has always and will always be there, noone owns it as it has been around for decades. The reason games are going with more modern warfare is cause recently wars arisen again, where as before that the WWs were almost all they had to work with. Yes MW is an awesome game, but that type of game is maybe decades old and it was earlier games that designed the very game modes that COD and all others now use. Why not say COD copied Unreal or Quake because it uses their ideas for their online modes(capture the flag etc.) Not having a go, we all have opinions and this is mine :)
looks nice...w8ing for more I guess..
I don't care if you give North Korea 50 years to develop; it does NOT hold the capability to defeat the U.S. in large-scale military skirmishes or let alone INVADE. At least give more plausible "enemies", such as Russia or China. North Korea can barely feed its own population for god's sake.
Gotta say, this looks interesting.
wow one person is really cool, one person has obviously put a tums down o all of cipher_8s' posts
@Osiris1112 -- Thanks for the kind and truthful words. Atleast everyone isn't a Call of Duty fanboy that sees it as the end all be all best game ever. -_-
@TommyT456 -- Thank you! Someone who agrees and is sick of what we see day in and day out on these comment boards when a new shooter is shown. People... Thumbs up this man! \m/(>.
@ActionManly -- "Plus, where the hell in my post did you get me being annoyed at an Invasion of the US in video games? I'm not American, I couldn't care less. I actually find them interesting. In fact, World in Conflict is one of my favourite games of all times. So shut up before making assumptions." BTW I wasn't mentioning you 'specifically' when I called out the people complaining about a Invasion of the US. Just throwing it out there for everyone that commented complaining it. I'm american. I could care less what video games do, its fiction, fantasy, it's suppose to be a play off of real life not predicting real life. That doesn't make me less patriotic either for you vets out there. I still appreciate all that you have done/are doing for me and your country.
@ActionManly, You mean it's so "popular" and it sold so well that other developers, some being around just as long and being just as legitimate as IW and Treyarch are try to implement features that made Call of Duty popular into their games so it will sell just as well. Guess what bud, that's nothing new. It's been around since the beginning of video games. Everybody taking bits and pieces of what's new or popular at the time to make their game more inviting for the masses. You think it's copying Call of Duty because some military force is occupying US, so that makes it copying Call of Duty well Call of Duty wasn't the first to do this in the genre of shooters. This game is unique, it's borrowing features from other popular shooters, like CoD, so it can be a the best game it can be, but don't hate on new I.P's just because it has some same GENERAL features to it but overall it's a totally different game. This game will play a lot more like Frontlines: Fuel of War (a underrated game) then Call of Duty. Same devs and it looks somewhat the same.
@Cipher_8, wow, you're really thick aren't you? How did you manage to cipher all that crap from "trying to cash in on the MW2 market?" YES I freaking know that MW2 isn't the only damned FPS out there, I NEVER SAID IT WAS. What I'm SAYING is that MW2 is just so GODDAMN huge (which you agree with) that every two-bit new FPS developer is trying to imitate it in one way or another. Hell, even Bad Company 2 took "elements" from MW2. This is not a good thing, either. If you run out of milk, you don't buy a coke can because they're both liquids - they are both completely different! Just like when you want MW2, or Homefront, or Medal of Honor or w/e, you don't buy Counter Strike because they are NOT THE SAME THING. What Homefront is trying to do is be another, milk-based product. One that looks and reminds people of MW2, but isn't. Sheesh. Just look at the screenshots - look at the premise.. although it isn't a MW2 clone, it just reeks of trying to cash in the massive hype surrounding invasions of America or w/e. Plus, where the hell in my post did you get me being annoyed at an Invasion of the US in video games? I'm not American, I couldn't care less. I actually find them interesting. In fact, World in Conflict is one of my favourite games of all times. So shut up before making assumptions.
Im holding this game in high hopes. I really, really hope its going to be gold this. Theres so much potential in the storyline that in essence its what will either make or break the game. While the gameplay elements will be one of the strongest factors behind this game, I feel that most of us are going to get based on its storyline. The only way I could see this game failing is if both gameplay and story dont gel. I got my fingers crossed!
skizzel did you hit your head? There is nothing remotely plausible about this. Even if every korean became a soldier they wouldn't have the manpower to hold the land they claim in this game. This is nothing more than a drug fueled fantasy trying to pass itself off as writing. And not the good kind.
This looks awesome I love the plausible storyline and the settings look really detailed and graphically looks awesome! as long as the shooting mechanics are really fun it looks good so far. I like the fact that they are untrained civilians that's cool i wonder how much it will change the playstyle?
THEY arn't copying COD they are copying the storyline from freedom fighters from ps2 but instead of russia its korea
Whenever they spend the whole time talking about a game's plot, that normally means it doesn't have much else going for it. Seems to be the case here, I did not see one unique gameplay element other than the setting. And whether or not they copied COD, it looks a hell of a lot like it. Just minus the cool gadgets and great graphics. So...
I really hope this game pans out.
I'll reiterate what a few have said already, stop comparing games that are very different to COD. Before COD became so popular people werent going around saying that every shooter that came out was, lets say, a Half Life clone, or whichever popular series you want to go with. There are shed loads of shooters, noone says they are all copying each other until it comes to COD, as if they own the right to the FPS genre, but to be fair COD has only done the same thing itself and taken the already solidly supported premise of FPS's and tweaked it. You could say they copied battlefield (the old ones, not bad company for all you new gamers) or wolfenstein or one of many others. Its just the recent popularity of COD that has led to this narrow minded nooby view. The fact is this is actually taking its own direction and looks very different, with the idea that you are an untrained civilian laying the foundation for a very original game with a (hopefully) great more frantic "in the moment" kind of atmosphere.
Awesome!
And did anyone realize those graphics? They look superb for being on the console I am excited about this title it looks pretty promising I just hope the campaign is LONG. Beat Killzone 2 in 6 hours and MW2 in like 4 :(
@ Cipher 8 My thoughts exactly. While I enjoy the occasional COD game as much as the next guy I really am sick of hearing about it being "copied." It is not the only FPS ever made there are other FPS' with good ideas that need to be recognized.
@ jthewonder, You know Rode is a real make of mic right?
Alot of replies are getting extremely off-topic and leaning over opinionated poltical views. Enjoy the setting of the game for what it is, an occupied USA. There was actually a book written by a USNAVY Admiral orchestrating the tactical advantage China would have if they invaded the US. Kinda the inspiration behind Fallout 3. But North Korea? Man, I give the develops props for making the N.Koreans look menacing, but they are nothing in comparison to China. Would love to try this game out!
looks and sounds good but i just hope it isnt a letdown
@ActionManly -- How is it when a new IP is announced and it's a shooter, specifically a F.P.S, does that make it trying to copy the madden of fps's AKA Call of Duty. "another semi-decent FPS trying to cash in on the MW2 market." I never knew the FPS Market/Genre of videos games was only for Call of Duty. I do know they pump out basically the same title each year, thus the Madden comparison, but they were not the first shooter so it's not their market and they are not the best shooter ever, despite the recent popularization of the series. I'm sick of gamers overhyping Call of Duty just because they were the first to jump into the Iraq War/Middle Eastern setting. Call of Duty was hyped up and applauding for doing something different then World War II. Why can't we have something different then USA vs Russia? And anybody out there that are butthurt by the idea of the possibility of a occupying force in the United States just remember one thing. It's a video game. Shooter video games for the most part are fiction. You can't actually have a game based in the future that isn't fiction so keep your minds open or just keep checking Black Ops page and fueling that hype train. In the end you'll all feel let down like you did for Modern Warfare 2.
so stupid...just think that china invaded the US and it's fine with me
Maybe a game from the opposite point of view? Eliminating the US propaganda of the Iraq - US war? being an Iraqi soldier? or the War of Independance recreation of Israel vs 6 arab nations? anything except the normal please.
I like the idea of the game but I'm tired of games floating around the United States. I know the reason why they can't make an Israeli - Arab war game, because assuming that it will happen and assuming that one will be victorious, will create massive negative sales in part of one side. But I would really want to see a battle of Israel vs Arabs or Colombia vs Militias war something not like the usual. United States must disappear from games.
As much as i'd hate to sound pessimistic this just reeks of a modern warfare clone
Who makes billions and billions and billions off of wars ? there's your real culprit, the game sounds interesting so far.
Am i the only one wondering why there is a danish word on the microphone using danish letters ?? ( its "røde") why would an english/american/australian/whateverthehellthisis site have this ?? i smell an conspiracy ok the danish letter doesnt show on this page but the word is "rode" except that the O has a line going through it so its like O with a --> \ through it
@Herki But the Taliban have training camps, and there casualties are much higher then US forces. That a small party of freedom fighters can wage a guerilla war by them selves and manage to kill dozens of enemy troops who are better trained and experianced then them, which will then be like Red Dawn. Im not saying hit-and-run tactics dont work, but man-for-man the Korean soldiers are better so techniquely the 5 man squad of everyday civilians dont stand a chance. Its like u and your friends are able to break into Fort Knox.
Learn how to spell and we might not think the rest of you are idiots.
evry1 hates yanks coz there ignorant and arrogant to evry other culture apart from there own, an there fat an stupid. lets see how long this messege stays up 4
i dont know... its about us { iran }, its about america, about far east { korea and japane }... many people hate us ... some hate america ... some hate korea and some others hate israel ... this game will have many sides. i dont know i have to like this game or not, lol.
they first game for me was cool with thous mini robots it was something the FPS specialty moderns should look on cos is pretty interesting lets hope they will keep doing good with this as well my god there are a lot of fps coming this days
i love how some are saying the story is not realistic. It's a video game meant for entertainment! Transformers, Avatar, Aliens, etc. are not real either...but fun to watch :)
This game looks sick, eh. I will pre order soon!

This is intresting!
looks pretty nice...see about the review. Environment look really nice and detailed with some good variety...just hope it doesn't turn out into some generic modern warfare shooter
I am excited about this game looks like it will have great graphics and hopefully the gameplay will be just as good or better.
That's a very unpleasant premise.
wow. this is freaky. yet extremely cool
just more fuel for the fire.
Urealistic..NORAD is set up to fight a All out Atomic war complete with EMP attacks.Ever thing from Long range B2's to Trident attacks let alone the land based stuff would go to green. If Korea invaded and attacked the US,20mins l18r it would be blown to the four winds in thermonuclear oven OF HELL!!! Stupid premise! Could be fun to play thou :)
