The good: The atmosphere will grip you. The sounds/visuals of violence and destruction overcoming your homeland will raise your blood pressure. The characters aren't bad, the dialogue isn't silly and the story is fun enough to follow along and interesting fiction (hopefully stays that way).

The bad: If you are a CoD fan, you likely won't like it because it's a near direct rip off as far as the game play goes but doesn't pull it off as well, which will likely let fans of the genre down. It uses the same stupid AI which doesn't know when it's being shot at, let alone realistically looking for you. Example: You make your way through a domestic 'survivalist' camp to steal their chopper to use in the next mission (convoy escort) and you aren't prowling at all. The enemy turns their backs conveniently and you walk past them with your friends in formation as if on a routine patrol. If you aren't a sucker for realism, this alone is laughably bad.
Also there are times when you try to get somewhere on the attractive map (really, they did well graphically) but can't even though there is nothing blocking the way. This is really annoying and confusing, especially when enemies swarm you.
You of course engage in regular combat along with a bit of piloting, gunner position at times in a humvee and of course no typical sprint/shooter game is complete without what.....you guessed it: a bit of sniping by the player. But this is done horribly also. I actually tagged a guy in the arm when the scope floated and he didn't do anything but wait on my second shot as the blood spurted from his arm. Again, embarrassingly stupid AI no better than that of the original Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six which is decades old now and at least has that as a viable excuse.

The game is short and it's left open ended, although I can't imagine a sequel being made without vast improvements. I didn't even venture into the multiplayer, as I'm sick to death of an overly saturated market of sprint/shoot with little to no realism, thought or tactics involved.

If you must buy it, buy it used.
