How do I throw the coin...

I just started this up and I'm supposed to throw some coin out a window but when I select it and press the y button all he does is drop it straight to the floor...the controls in this game are really frustrating me, heck I couldnt even use the wire to kill someone =/

Select a coin from the inventory (or equip another small item to throw) then click and hold the left stick to prepare to throw. Aim the cross hair with the right stick, and then finally release the left stick to throw the item (instructions, page 16).
The longer you hold the left stick in, the further 47 will throw.
Select the fibre wire from the inventory, then pull and hold right trigger to tighten the fibre wire and automatically enter sneak. Use the left stick to manoevre yourself behind the mark, then release the right trigger to strangle them (instructions, page 8).
You can only fibre wire someone from behind.
I think the controls in this game are great.
