Just bought this game for $20 and it feels like a steal. What a great game. 7.5 is too low for this game. I can never trust this guys reviews. Why do I always go to gamespot before any other website? It's like a bad drug lol.

Kevin VanOrd wears all the disguises as he reviews Agent 47's return in Hitman: Absolution.
Brilliant game with an intense atmosphere, great detailed graphics and tight controls. Also the story felt like a grindhouse B-movie, which is awesome.
I know some Hitman purists don't like it all that much but i didn't like the old Hitman games anyway so yeehaaa!!
I beat this game 2 times, now playing on the hardest setting and it is a BLAST. Feels a Tarantino inspired Hitman game. Much better than COD BO2 which got a higher score than this. The action and gameplay in this game is so intense and fluid. My only complaint is there are no loadoats or upgrades for guns like in previous games. I hope they add on a DLC for weapon load-outs in single player.
@Dredcrumb9 Took the words out of my mouth. Felt like a Tarantino film when I started playing. Great voice work from Powers Booth and Keith Carradine (Deadwood) and the rest.
i just started playing this game and i'm doing it on the hardest difficulty setting so its a real challenge and sometimes cheap, but mass fun all together. \
This is a great game and another great example on how GS can't review a game if there life depended on it. This game is an easy 9
@Trinitarian yeah... honestly the rating threw me off. I don't understand why it's not a 9 given other game ratings and the quality of this one.
Never played ANY of the Hitman series. This looks like a good place to start. Have to check it out.
@Dredcrumb9 @focuspuller I got my hands on it yesterday. Beautiful looking and great game play! Can't put it down.
Thanks for the recommend. Money well spent.
I'm wondering what games would compare to this.
I thought this game was amazing. My only complaint is they took away load outs and weapon customization in the campaign. I am glad 47 woke up and turned on the scum Agency. People who complain about the police levels are idiots, i had so much fun sneaking around stabbing cops with a butcher knife, one by one like Michael Myers. This game deserves a high 8. Way better than Black ops 2 or max payne 3.
@Dredcrumb9 Yes, I agree, the game is amazingly cinematic, but I can't compare it to Max Payne or Call of Duty, because those games are very different, but IMO Max Payne 3 is a more memorable and remarkable experience.
this game sucks bigg balls end they ruined all siries whit the shet detection bar end new shett they ad in im so sad i had more funn 1 milion times more fun playng blood money end contracts.YOU MUTHER FUCKERS RUINED THE GHAME ADING THE SHETT DETECTION!!!!
What an unforgettable experience, I love how the series is changing and growing--Hitman is just an amazing bald, cold-blooded assassin.
For everything I liked there was something that I hated . Story was pretty good and the levels with big open areas to kill targets in multiple different ways were fun , but the levels where you have to sneak round all the police/guards that are looking for you I hated , I also hated how throughout the story Agent 47 feels emotions, gets captured and gets knocked out , ruined the characters history for me. Not sure I like the new direction that the series is going
@jordan119 You hated those parts? HOW? the parts where cops and agency are hunting you down are so fun. i loved sneaking around stabbing cops and agency member with a knife, throwing knives in their heads from around the corner, poppin them with silences pistols, using stealth in this game rocks. Go play Crap ops 2 or modern borfare.
@Dredcrumb9 @jordan119 Yeah they would have been good in a batman game , but the point of Hitman Is to be a ghost , someone who kills and has escaped the area before anyone even realises he was there. So when it comes to the missions where you have to infiltrate bases and sneak round guards it just seems stupid
@Dredcrumb9 @jordan119 to put it in a different way , I didn't like how the game had singular levels devoted to just sneaking round gaurds without killing any targets . I thought it was the most noticeable change from the past Hitman games and I hated it. I would rather of just had cutscenes showing 47 moving to his next location rather than actually play it and the developers spend more time creating levels with actual assassination targets to kill.
In the past games you where just thrown into different levels and you had a number of different targets to kill but in absolution these target levels are limited.
In my opinion when you take away the targets and have levels with just guards to sneak around without any assassination targets to kill the levels just end up pointless and dragged out.
@jordan119 @Dredcrumb9 "So when it comes to the missions where you have to infiltrate bases and sneak round guards it just seems stupid"< what do you mean? In all of the hitman games you sneak around and infiltrate places. You have the option to be a ghost in this game, I have done it numerous times. i don't think you even played this game.
@miker00lz what I mean is on the other games there where not levels were every guard on the level is searching every corner for you (apart from a singular level on contracts) because you could complete missions without anyone knowing.
So when I completed a mission with a silent assassin rating on absolution it made it really frustrating to then go through the next level having to avoid 30 guards. The point of hitman is that your a ghost and that they are not supposed to know you were ever there so it makes no sense that there would be 80 police patrols/gaurds just randomly searching for you.
Also I was under the impression that agent 47 was genetically made to not be able to feel emotions (I could be wrong) so it just seemed like such a radical character change that he would suddenly care about Diana or anyone for that matter.
It is still a class game though without a doubt , but as fan I just think whilst the gameplay has improved some of the other stuff has taken a step back
@jordan119 Huh?? Infiltrating areas and getting past guards by sneaking around them or finding a suitable disguise is EXACTLY what you do in all of the older Hitman games. What are you talking about man? That argument makes no sense.
I agree though, that Agent 47 showing emotions in some parts is kind of weird. He doesn't show much of it though, and the thing that triggers it is Victoria and the doctors. The same kind of doctors that 47 had to deal with himself when he was younger, so that makes it a little more believable. He hated them, and if anything could get him to show emotion that would probably be it.
In any case, emotion or not, the gameplay is generally awesome and fun so whatever. It just strings the story along a bit. Still a good game.
@jordan119 I have to agree to a large extent. The evading levels seemed tedious and offered far less freedom. in terms of the story, I'm interested on where they are taking it.
Why is this review not found on the other platform review pages? PC or PS3 don't list this video under review. Only shows "There are no reviews for the PC/PS3 platform. Please check back later!" while there is a review for the game. Same goes for many other titles
Does this moron realise the game isn't designed to be a shooter? It'd be nice to see an in depth review with criticisms actually relevant to the series
KEVIN, the part you mention as a forced gunfight, is not a forced gun fight at all...I took another route, where I loosened some gas valves that killed the enemy that way. This game is not that linear, there so many ways to beat a mission. Somebody fire these incompetent reviewers who are misrepresenting games. This game is an 8.5 at the lowest.
@Dredcrumb9 Relax, dude. Incompenent? Kevin is a good reviewer. So he missed one detail. Big deal. This game has such a large number of ways dealing of with each situation, and these guys have, at most, only a few days time to soak it all in and write a review/make a video review. Lets see you try his job, and see if you catch every detail in every game. Good luck.
I do agree that his rating of 7.5 is criminally low, though. Based on how he talks about it, it sounds like he would give it at least an 8.5 so I was surprised to see 7.5.
Can anyone tell me how to get the Exclusive Agency DLC Gun pack?? I put in the code and downloaded the guns, and for some reason i? can't use or find the guns in any of the levels? I got this rip-off edition for the stupid guns and I can't even get a hold of them!
I love how in the review he gives an example of a "forced gunfight" where you kill the guy who looks like bill from kill bill (can't remember his name) when you don't even have to kill him via that gun fight scene....It's really not THAT linear, just look around, there is plenty of stuff to miss
I would have given this game 8.0. Not bad but i suggest playing this game on higher difficulty level.
way too linear, its pretty and all but it misses the Hitman feeling that made blood contract so great. It felt more like a sneaky uncharted with a bald head then hitman to me. It IS a good game, but not a great one and not a great hitman game.
How did Black Ops 2 get an 8.5 and this a 7? the first few missions alone are more fun than the entire black ops 2 campaign.
A another disapointing review form VanOrd... all I can see, is that gamespot is loosing more and more trust from ppl and they all go to IGN... I use to love gamespot website and I am a member since 2007 but been checking them since 2003/2004. U guys gotta give the job to someone else then him for the review please or you will loose one more fan. And alsp... put back the today on the spot...
@thegroscon lol, moving from Gamespot to IGN is like quitting crack and starting meth. Neither sites are anywhere near credible.
just finished it...Quite a good game, the levels of the game are a bit more action oriented since many times u are required to escape hordes of enemy police or swat, but can be quite stealthy also....Most of the gameplay mechanics feel great, except the some QTE and set pieces which werent needed at all.Overall a good hitman game, but it doesnt completely follow the contract and mission pattern that the previous used to follow
I liked IGN's review, they actual played the game the way it was suppose to be. All they talked about was the features that were optional, instead of the features that were not. My only gripe was that the enemies can see through your disguise even though it's not possible, like police can see that your not a cop out of the thousands of police in the Chicago. Really? that part of the game needs tweeking. It takes away from the whole hide in plain sight feel of the game.
