Well to be fair you can either play this is as stealth or go rambo on easy mode, and he gun is useful for those rambo players.

Paying for costumes in a game where you gotta wear disguises anyway is pretty odd too...

I found it odd that the bonus "Agency gun pack" for one of the editions featured guns that really aren't designed to be stealthy or anything close to silent - a shotgun and an assault rifle?

Add to the fact that any of this extra content can't actually be used in the main game and you'd feel even more cheated if you bought it.

The biggest problem for me (One that I discovered after getting the DLC) Is that there is no point to use it. When it comes to using guns, contracts - the only mode you can use them - is incredibly unspecific. Something I discovered when I tried making one in the gun shop.

Long story short, I went to the effort of sneaking into the back room to grab the Pink revolver. All contracts lists a kill with that is "Revolver", meaning you could just pick one up in the shop and be good to go. Why don't they have specific weapons? I'm suprised they don't list the generic stuff as just "tool" or something. It's like they watched the Blood Money video where the guy gets SA on Curtains Down with only screwdriver kills and suit only and went "Hey! We should build a mode around this video!"

But then it would be "Kill target with X pisto...oh you dont have that dlc? Better buy it then"

Damn you just KNOW SE would be willing to stoop that low...

Yeah but each gun DLC is only £0.59. If you want to play a contract that bad then more power to you, but if not then you don't have to. Besides, the outfit you use is already specific so if someone completes it with a DLC outfit then you have to buy that.

As well as that, I've played contracts with outfits I haven't unlocked becuase the person started with them. What's to say that someone without the DLC can't still use them if they have to? I'd be willing to bet that the only thing not having it restricts you to is not being able to make a contract with them.

Another thing not having specific requirements affects is silencers. In Blood Money (Not trying to be THAT guy, it's just relevant) I attempted to get SA by killing all the targets in the casino level with an unsilenced pistol shot to the head. I actually got pretty close, but I couldn't figure out how to get the guy in the green suit without alerting anyone. But anyway, let's say I pulled it off in Absolution - nothing would be stopping someone doing twice as fast and easily with silenced pistols. It just really bothers me.

Like I said, I've been able to use the samurai disguise without unlocking it because the contract started with it. I would imagine that if you started with a DLC disguise or gun that you could use it in the contract.

    No, you can't.

Fair enough. Happy to back down on that point. Although that just confirms it makes zero sense to not be specific if you can't play it at all if you don't have the DLC - if there is no way to even start the contract then what would it matter if you didn't have access to the correct gun?

Honestly I'm just venting at this point - contracts had so much potential but they messed it up in my opinion. Still very fun though.

Kills are not gun specific, but gun "type" specific.

Ex: Let's makeup a DLC weapon. Let's name it "Zebra" and it's a pistol.

You create a contract. You start with the Zebra equipped. You mark a target and kill it with the Zebra and escape. On the contract page afterwards, you will notice the weapon requirement for the target will be "Pistol". This does not mean to use the Zebra specifically. It means you can use any pistol, this can be the Silverballer.

So assuming such contracts wouldn't be locked to people without the DLC, I would start the contract and it would ask me to choose my disguise and equipment. Since I don't have the Zebra, I would use another gun like the Silverballer. I could even start with another gun completely like a sniper rifle and grab a pistol off a guard in the level and killing the target with it would still clear the condition.

I... I know. Every post I've made in this topic has been saying that I don't like that system as it doesn't allow for some potentially more complicated kills.

Square Enix and their DLC. If you think this is bad you should check out the Sleeping Dogs DLC. Talk about nickle-and-diming
