And were they blind as to what hath been reeled but that of gibbet unto such of hearth, to have taken dear of blight...

In Heretic, there is a planet vastly populated unto the zenith of its might and power. There are seven great kingdoms and satraps in this world, and each are held in thrall unto their own demands and secret interests to further their foothold unto farther and richer lands. When D'spari came he became a governor and like a puppeteer 'pulled' the strings of each great nation to indulge unto his biddings of revellery. This became known as the Order (corruption). The Sidhe Elders being the vanguards of this realm purged most of D'sparil's grand legios, however, sensing their magic in the ether, the behometh slaughtered them. Where Hope and beauty once stood, it was replaced with grotesque and chitinous beings of the death knell of the doom which had befallen all. One Sidhe Elder rose up in defiance, and killed the behometh that was D'sparil.

The graphics in Heretic are still quite good today even though the DOOM engine is considered that of petty musings and factions. In fact, in it's time it was the 'lingua franca' of pixels and today, the conviciton and effort is the vanguard of the effort to have been wrought.

The music is quite good, leading one from brooding Despair to ecstasy as the adrenaline grips one to kill the maulator or iron lich that has been pestering them for so long.

The gameplay is splendid. The water moves in currents, beasts bellow in such chitinous tongues, torches flicker in the darkness, leaves sway in the ether, arrows are seen to take flight, bricks are heard to crumble, the mana of teleports glisten in the skies as pillars that of Tuscan and such, and lava flows in a methiodical pace.

All in all, Heretic is a fine game, that of conviction and effort and if doubt is still etched unto one, get the demo at least to check it out, and voice your own opinion of the mos mairovm unto hand.
