One of the best XBLA games to date, just plain fun!
After playing the demo last night I was immediately addicted. The game play in incredibly simplistic, like many other of the GREAT XBLA games one stick controls driving direction (left and right) and the other firing direction. A recipe that has show us it works and it works well, i.e. Geometry Wars, etc..
The game itself is relatively fastpaced. Each level only take a few minutes to reach the end, they become increasingly longer as the game progresses. In your "Atomic Tank" you find yourself dodging airplane bombs & lasers, helicopters and other air and ground vehicles. The boss fights that conclude each level are big and frenzied. Once you complete of each level you stop by your local nuclear gas station for some upgrades. Shields, MIssles, and Laser upgrades make up the list - each having varied stages of size, effectiveness, etc..
One area I haven't had a chance to explore yet is the multiplayer and by the looks of the other reviews I have read. It's everything that is great about single player, but amped up. If that truly is the case, I can't be happier. I'll probably edit this once I get a good feel for the multiplayer, but this is defnitely a great XBLA purchase. Simple and fun and enough challenge to keep you busy for a while.
Also, the Killer Instinct in game narration adds a nice flair of excitement.. "MEGALASER"
