Quantic Dream is one of those game companies that when they have a new game coming you need to check it out. The Makers of one of my favorite games on the Xbox Indigo Prophecy (aka Fahrenheit) The team is always getting closer to the psycho real life action to make you feel really involved with the characters in the game. They really know how to get the heart pounding and playing this game on a dark night , alas Halloween you will see how you make thriller games that pushes on the line of game and movie almost making it the same experience. And thats one of the best things about Heavy Rain. Choose your own Thriller Mystery in beautiful graphics.

Games like this above some has to have a great story in order for the game to be any good. Luckily the writing and story is spot on from start to finish making you question an think about everything that happens in the game.
Basically you start off as Ethan Mars a struggling Father of two who at the start of the game has one of his sons hit by a car and killed one day at a Mall. Thats just the start, now divorced and lower then low his other son gets kidnapped by the origami killer, who is a serial killer who kidnapped children and forces the parents to go to extreme lengths to save your son or he will die. That is the driving force for the main character who you find is not psychologically under control always giving the player suspicious on who could it be.
The game lets to take control a number of different characters that all have different connections to the origami killer. Scot Shelby is a retired policeman conducting his own private investigation on the Killer. Scot suffers from Asama attacks and needs his inhaler to go on at times. But what he lacks in health and youth he makes up for his investigation knowledge and being around for a long time has its perks.
The Next Character FBI Agent Norman Jayden who is investigating the killer with high tech gadgets and start of the art tools making sure he leaves no detail unchecked. He Also suffers from an addiction to triptocain which leaves you to deal with detox or feel better and use the drug, its a really unique way to give the character more personality.
Finally the Love interest to Ethan and Photojournalist Madison Paige is having her own investigation on the Origami Killer. She suffers from insomnia and horrible nightmares. She often checks into motels where she finds is the only place she can sleep.

Overall the best thing is that each character gives you more light on the case and more details surrounding the case in a different prospective. Also each character has to cheat death at different points of the game, every character can die and the story continues making death feel very real.

The Gameplay of this game is rather unique to every character but basically its all the same. Quick Time events are all over the place from conducting a punch to opening up the fridge and cooking dinner. If quick time events bother you this could be a draw back, i found it to be rather realistic to the moves the characters were doing and I thought the animations where spot on. Finding clues searching nooks and crannies for clues is very fun and makes you feel like your walking in the footsteps of the characters your playing. very immersive.

Overall this game gives you an action packed ride throughout the whole journey keeping you on your toes and having you really question some of the things you do. The scenes can change and the slightest differences can make big outcomes in the story i felt like this was really a movie in which i chose where to go, and thats what i love about this game. The replay factor is lacking after beating the game once or twice not much else in the game. But the mystery is awesome and its one of my favorite PS3 games to date.

Gameplay: Quick Time Events at its finest whether thats a good thing or a bad thing
Graphics: one word AMAZING the game is freakishly realistic characters looking pseudo realistic. Only down fall are slight low res textures and pop ups but thats just griping
Sound: The Voice cast is on par with most movies these days and music was the nice of creepy and suspenseful along the way fit the mood very well
Story: This is how you write a good video game script people, more horror/thriller games should look at what heavy rain and Quantic Dream does. Great Work!
Overall: Video Game Movie Fans unite for this is the game where its on that fine line between the two delivering and experience unlike any game i've played one of a kind.
