I'm stunned the official review talks about reduced micromanagement. My take on hoi3 is that micromanagement has exploded! That is, if you're playing to actually fight properly.

The military command system is vastly more complicated at this new brigade level than the previous divisional systems were.

there are too many provinces to cover with too many troops (hoi3 still requires you to do the "fence" in many, many areas, especially with all the bugs in the surrendering system).

as the game progresses, the AI ambushes you politially at every opportunity even to the point of making the Swiss declare war against germany! this, in turn, destroys all the hours you put into making your retarded military organization structure work properly.

If you *like* excrutiating micromanagement as well as playing a game that could take as long to play as the actual war, hoi3 is for you.

If you liked the divisional system most common to strategy games, take a pass. at least until the price drops down to about 9 bucks and the 15th and final patch has been released.

Surprisingly disappointing effort from Paradox.
