A good example of how restricting a game about farming can be

The whole premise of Harvest moon is that you have inherited your dad's farm and now his friend wants you to run it. The strange thing is you are still a child. Anyway the game starts with the only thing on your farm being a cow and you have to earn money to buy crops and other livestock. You can also buy buildings. Ways to gain money are by selling crops that you have grown, selling produce from animals e.g milk and selling fish that you catch. Farming is fun at first but quickly grows tired as you have to perform the same tasks day after day after day. It's not even interesting tasks, it's monotonous things like milking cows or watering the crops. There is some story to break this up however as you can get married and start a family. You are still a child though throughout the whole game though which is more than slightly wrong. Getting married isn't as simple as finding a girl and asking her to marry you. Slowly but surely you must get to know and "woo" her. This does add some depth and there are also things to do in town like helping the archeologists dig as well. Graphically the game isn't all that great and the sound is nothing special. This is the sort of game that is much more suited to a handheld where you can play it in short bursts rather than a console where you would expect to play it for longer. In conclusion the game does have some good features but in the end is just boring and tiresome.
