Only long time harry potter video game fans can appreciate this. If you're not, consider this a 2.
However if you are like me and eat up anything harry potter related this entry is solid enough. The story mode is solid. The dueling is fun (for a time.) Potions are cool. (for a longer time.) Graphics.... not so much. I mean come on we all saw what the ds could handle with the fifth, get rid of it blinking from frame to frame and your good. In stead you get these blotchey chubby 2d characters, plus hogworts is smaller so we're not getting much for what we've given up.
Like I said though the story is fun mostly because It's not like the fifth where your really just helping people. You actually follow some stuff from the movie (though still very little.)
The dueling aspect is fun for the first half of the game but once you master it it's nearly imposible to loose, pluse the only spells you get are protego, flipindo, flipindo maxima, and levicorpus, there's another one in there but so far it's done nothing for me. The potions will last you make... longer but you do need to find items around hogwarts to make them which is fun at first but quickly looses it's touch when you want to make something other than wiggenwell.
What really cripples this game is A. lack of difficult foes. B. lack of most of hogwarts. and C. story length. I'm serious as black (sorry) this game is crippled mostly by the fact that they cut out most of the school and thus the games strongest aspect, on top of that they didn't even compensate for it by giving you decent battles. The story is the best part and there are a few fun mini games that offer some level of challenge but unless you're as die hard a potter head as me and insist on having harry potter on a portable system I would not recommend this game. Borrow it from a friend or something.
I've played this game on other systems and belive me if you have the chance to get it on Playstation, Xbox, or wii, do so.
