There are the standard sets of black and white pieces, which you and your opponent can move around the board after your respective rolls of the dice. There's a doubling cube, the bar, a second set of dice which appear whenever someone rolls doubles, and a nice, shiny onscreen box that would be lovely to have in real life. The plan is simple: move your pieces counter-clockwise, so that which each roll of the dice, you advance to new points on the board; whoever is first to move all the pieces for their side off into the storage box is the winner. There are few rules, so it's easy to get started, but the dice add the element of chance. Backgammon is a game that deserves some more fans, and this elegant X Box title is a good start.
