Just when Hard Reset starts to get good - it's over.

User Rating: 3.5 | Hard Reset PC
Hard Reset is an FPS about a dude in the future trying to save the world... or is it the city??? - from robot takeover. Machines are out of control due to advanced AI gone nutso, like some Terminator-esque type of theme, and the cybernetically enhanced hero must save the day by killing them all off.

The game has a lot of potential, its fun and sometimes a little frustrating - but the problem here is that either it is not finished or somebody wasn't paying attention in creative writing class.

The game ends suddenly - just when you are far enough into it to say to yourself "I kicked that bosses butt - so what's next???". You get to a boss battle, and it feels like this is mid-game, not an end boss - but guess what kiddies, when the fight's over you get a cut-scene and that's it.

Even the last cut-scene alludes to there supposing to be more to this title - sadly, people won't get their moola back on this one, since it's a PC game!

The graphics are good. The music is okay, pretty much the same for each type of events. The cut-scene artwork could be excused as stylistic - but considering the brevity of the game I now categorize it as rushed.

What is really annoying is the game is good - you WANT to continue to play, but that high is over faster than a 5 dollar roll with a 20 dollar crack ho.

Some other areas of note are the lowered gates and low openings, signifying that there probably was a crouch function to be added, which did not make the final game. There are also nano rewards in a couple of places that are impossible to reach - probably had plans for a way to get them that also did not make the hastily released final game.

Its a shame that this game has such an insurmountable problem - it seemed like it would have been very good if they took the time to complete it.
