A great attempt at transforming the Halo seiries into a 2D platformer/shooter, but it still has some thigns to work out.

Some people would think that a 2D version of Halo would suck. They are perfectly right to think that, as most times that is attempted, the result is failure. Halo Zero however, defies that. It's a good overall shooter, mixed in with some platforming, and delivers some fun moments overall.

The graphics on Halo Zero are just about the best Halo Sprite graphics I've seen to date, and they were handmade by the Halo Zero team. The way that animated them is very smooth, and looks pretty realistic. Overall, they did preety good for art and animation, but some things, like the physical attacks are too robotic, and goes from one motion to the next without anything in between, unlike the walking.

The gameplay is good, with rotation up and down to point at the cursor, and a good camera makes this as close as possible to the real thing, but some things you can't do in 2D. The only real flaws in the gameplay are things like the elites shield only hold up for a second then die, as easy as grunts. Another is the framerate, which dips down in certian parts, and while this isnt major, if you are holding down a key during that period, the character will continue doing that like normal, and then if you did multipple actions, he will carry them out afterwards, which can be anoyying in a firefight.

Halo Zero is an overall good game, but the levels are sometimes short, so that game could use a little lengthaning. Otherwise, it is a solid platformer that can be player just for fun!
