Halo In The Form of Command & Conquer, Fight The Covenant On Harvest. Its Not Perfect But Its A Fun Play

User Rating: 6.5 | Halo Wars X360
Halo finally comes to us, and not in the form the overplayed First Person style. Halo Wars follows before the events of Halo: Reach at the time of the war with the Covenant on the planet Harvest. The Covenant are searching for a super weapon on the planet, and only the UNSC stands in there way and you, a Commander who leads the men and gives the orders. Slowly you discover that the super weapon is similar to the Halo weapon.

Halo Wars follows the same dynamics of Command and Conquer, especially Kane's Wrath with interfaces within the game allowing you to play when you need to interface with options.
Units at your disposal range from squads of trained UNSC marines, to Warthogs and even super weapons you can use against the Covenant. The environments change from Forerunner structures to snowy capped mountains.

You can build in Halo Wars to an extent, on your main base platform you can build barracks, an armory, a lab to upgrade and research, and then out in the open away from the base you can build defenses and outposts. Graphically, Halo Wars is nothing special but what it lacks in graphics it makes up for it in gameplay and content.

The Good:

- Good gameplay, simple to play with lots of content.
- Graphics may be dated but aren't the worst.
- Many units to deploy, famous from the original games including Warthogs and Banshees.
- Missions range from rescueing a downed ship's crew, to assaulting a Covenant base of operations.
- Both big and small battles to tackle.

The Bad:

- Too short of a campaign.
- Graphically dated.
- Not many online options, and limited contents.
- It is based on Halo, but in some ways doesn't feel like it fully.

Halo Wars is mainly for the hardcore fans of Halo, and is best to get pre-owned and on the cheap.
