“Remember Reach”

User Rating: 8 | Halo: Reach Remastered PC

We have heard about this event in past games. But now we get to witness it, from the eyes of Spartan Noble-6, the newest member of the Noble Team. Without revealing anything more, I will vouch that the story alone is worth playing this game.

But new gameplay mechanics are always a welcomed improvement. One of my favorites is the new armor abilities. They are rechargeable powers that you can pick up throughout the mission. I had so much fun with Camouflage and Jetpack.

The level design of each mission is unique and never felt repetitive; which is something I praise every Halo sequel for, since Combat Evolved. The rest of the gameplay remains mostly the same. The enemies are everything we have seen before, with a few minor tweaks.

For players who are new to Halo: You’ll notice that Reach is the first game of Master Chief Collection in chronological order. But I recommend playing it in the release order, starting with Combat Evolved. You’ll have a better appreciation for the evolution of gameplay, and the story of Reach is a lot more emotionally impactful after playing the original Trilogy.

This is the final Halo game developed by Bungie and I can now confidently say they have done amazing work with each entry to the series. I can’t wait to see what their successor 343 has in store…
