Spyro. Once only parallelled with Crash Bandicoot, this franchise took the Playstation by storm. Friendly, innovative, and well-made, this was the 3-D, free-roaming experience Super Mario 64 fans wanted on the Playstation. Though not as influential as Mario 64, this game definitely played its part in ushering in the rise of 3-D gaming. It is more than deserving of any gamers respect. However, the game itself is a mixed bag. It was revolutionary back in the day, but now it feels a little stilted. The controls are not perfect, and the progression seems a little off. However, these faults do not make it a bad game by any means, and it can still be enjoyed (especially by those who played the other games, though they will be surprised by Spyro's less friendly, more cocky voice). This is a game that any gamer should have in his/her collection, if not for the gameplay, than simply to have one of the more important games to the Playstation's development.
