Halo is easily one of the best games ive ever played and one of the greatest games ever made.
Gameplay-(10) Back in 2002 FPS games were big but until Halo arrived its when it truly started because for its time the gameplay was just simply amazing. The control was perfect, the combat was intense with incredibly smart AI, the campaign was long and the levels were varied. While the game didn't feature x box live the offline multiplayer was still a truly fantastic experiences, i used to play this game all the time with my brothers. The gameplay in Halo is almost flawless, the only one i can think of is when the levels are sometimes repeated areas making hard to no where to get to. There are a lot of vehicles all varied from driving scorpions (tanks) to ghosts (small hovercrafts) which was a great feature to throw in. Another annoying thing in the gameplay is how over powered the pistol is, but the gameplay is groundbreaking.
Graphics-(8.4) Halo didn't look anything special but still looked pretty decent with nice textures and big open space battlefields. Some of the indoor environments look a little flat but the graphics were overall decent.
Sound-(9.8) Excellent voice acting and excellent audio, but just listening to Halo you can tell that a lot of effort was put into the sound design to juts overall make it a real joy to listen to. The only problem with the sound is that some of the guns sound a little fake like toys and the marines who are your allies can say some annoying things.
Halo is the best shooter very made up to this day no doubt about it and this was probably the game that made the x box such a success and has been one of the most successful franchises ever. A lot of games have tried to rip off halo with there ideas like Killzone which had failed because Halo: Combat Evolved is one of the greatest games very made.
