Return to Halo with Chris Watters in this review for Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary.
Does the AR seem a lot easier to aim? Plus, I still love Halo CE Elites. They're not as evasive as Halo Reach Elites, but still smart and fun to fight.
can someone help me i just started liking halo but dnt know wether to buy the first original combat evolution and number two and all to pick up on the story or should i just get 1 game
@lloydster451 get reach, then anniversary, then 2 and then 3,
4 is coming out on november 4th
go in this order if you want to understand the whole storyline :D
odst and halo wars are additional but have nothing to do with the above story.
Just picked this up for $30. I honestly feel like the 8 year old I was when I got my first Xbox and this game with it.
Never played first Halo and, ironically, became a fan only with Halo 3. I got a copy of Halo CE for the PC and played a while, but, seeing this edition, man, I'm getting this one and finally, finally, will play the first Halo through the end
Long live Halo! :D This game is still the best in the series, and even with how good the games are today, I don't think any Halo game can top this epic chunk of John 117. Here's to 10 more years of the best gaming series ever, and to Halo 4!
@GodooTheGod Dude this game was made for the fans you idiot. 343 thought it would be a great idea to celebrate the 10 year anniversary for one of the greatest games of all time and the series that defined FPS games on consoles, and gave the Xbox life. And it was $40. Go comment on a Call of Duty video and say it's being milked, I bet you'll get some respect over there.
this game is great and yes the amount of maps is pretty stingy but that's why it was so cheap. ps: can people please stop crying about skyward sword's review on this page!!!
i was really looking forward to this game until i heard that the original multiplayer wasn't included. they said it would have taken too long and hard work to graft on a network code for it since the original ran in system link. what a bunch of bs! the original co-op didn't have a network code either, but yet they got online co-op for anniversary. they could have at least included all the maps from the original and pc version for the reach engine. but they will probably make us pay more $ for them as dlc. this is by far the worst anniversary i have ever seen for a video game. what a slap in the face for the fans and a quick cash in the the halo franchise. for $40 with only 6 multiplayer maps...no thank you, i will pass and just play the original, it's still the best halo yet!
There are allot of great games in my time. But one of my favorites was Halo Combat Evolved. They brought it back and I'm way excited. I still have my original Xbox version but dammit if this game doesn't bring me back. For 40$ totally worth it. It's one of my favorite FPS games of all time and they brought it back for 40$ I can't complain.
@Trickymaster Huge disagree there dude. This game is TOTALLY worth $40, There is also a huge difference between upgrading a 10 year old, previous-gen console game to look like it belongs in this generation and downgrading a 4 year old PC game intended for supercomputers so it'll work on consoles.
full_disclosure.... i agree amazing game even to this day but it really dose let u know how far the game has come
The review is accurate. The game is still fun 10 years later. Played the first 3 levels just to see how it felt. Still great! Not great enough to pull me away from Skyrim though.
Aiiiyyiyiiiii, how does the complete definition of a game rehash recieve a higher score than an incredibly innovative and brand new amazing adventure (LoZ:SS) Answer: This series scores have been inflated since Halo 2...how, I couldn't even tell you (I own all halo games, but this one)
@Trickymaster: really? Because from what I've heard it's selling well. And the reason for the $40 price tag is because they put a lot of work into it. More so than Crytek did with the Crysis release on Xbox Live.
$40 is a bit too much, Microsoft. Even Crysis is sold for $20 bucks. Well, it doesn't really matter because people won't buy it and Microsoft will be forced to lower the price anyway.
@Nibbles37 i know it was originally made for pc but my point is it was released for the x box 10 years ago not the pc so it makes sense for it to come out on 360...first at least seriously who is to say they won't make a pc version anyway? personally i dont really care what platform its out for i just want to play it :D
@3v1LR0n1N If you did your homework you would know Xbox was not the original platform Halo CE was intended for. M$ needed a flagship game for its new console so they bought the rights.
This game is great they should have added a secret mission in the game for a laugh, on legendary at the end of the game or at some point in the game just to spice the game up abit. I would also like to say that if u have played halo not to long ago then u might not quite enjoy this in the other hand if u havent played it in a long time this will feel like the best halo ever and for me personaly this halo is the best one and always will be but 9 rateing for me not a 8=)
Whats with the word use? Alacrity and vexing!...what is this, Jane Austen? Overall good review overall but this sounds like someone reading out their first undergraduate English Lit critique. I also miss seeing reviewer faces. These new reviews could almost be from IGN.
Now if my Xbox would actually work that would be something... Halo CE is the only Halo that really felt like a Sci fi shooter. The others feel kinda like Zombie shooters.
Interesting game, hilarious deaths lot's of time, but didn't keep me that intrigued. looks like it's still the same, so I won't be getting this.
Halo gets credit for doing things that were already normal on pc shooters. Dont get me wrong. I enjoyed the original. It more or less set many standards for CONSOLE shooters, but even then I had set up custom controller options on the original Timesplitters and was using that method (sans grenades on the trigger, which was new at the time) of control with great success. The storyline, while I did enjoy it somewhat, gets way too convoluted for my tastes. Just my 2 cents. Im not saying anyone elses opinions are wrong. Simply stating my own.
Sure Halo: CE Aniversary has brilliant "HD" visuals and revamped environments but i just cant get over that ugly as hell assault rifle made of plasticine!
